Mr. CEO Your Wife Has Wanted a Divorce for a Long Time (by Zora Pradeep) novel Chapter 609

word had already gotten around about Franklin and Julia’s wedding talks, so Rex had heard.

Miss Brown,he said. It’s been a while. I hear congratulations are in order, you and Mr. Wilson?

falis had noticed him the moment he walked over. She smiled. Thank you.

Saying congratulations was genuine enough on Rex’s part, but there was also a fishing expedition tucked inside it. He wanted to know if the rumors were actually true.

Now that he had her confirmation, he felt happy for her. But something flickered in his eyes too, just briefly. He pushed past it. I also heard you were pretty seriously injured. I hope you’ve made a full recovery?

Not quite a hundred percent yet, but almost there. Thanks for asking.

Rex nodded, made a bit more small talk with Julia, and when the conversation had run its natural course, found an excuse to peel away.

He turned around and walked right into the sight of Johnny and Maggie.

The moment he saw Maggie, his expression cooled. But he’d already made eye contact with Johnny, so he kept it civil. Mr. Gray.

Johnny gave him a barelythere nod. Mr. Hardin.

And that was that. The message was clear: not interested in saying another word to you.

Rex could read a room. He wasn’t going to keep throwing himself at a wall. But he did glance over at Maggie a couple of times.

Maggie looked straight through him, same as always. Like he wasn’t even there.

He’d heard lately that Franklin was spending practically every day with Julia, and bringing his daughter from his previous marriage along too.

He also hadn’t seen Maggie and Franklin together in a while.

Seemed like she’d been keeping to herself these days.

Or maybe she didn’t have much choice in the matter.

With that thought, he turned and went back to his seat.

The Greens and the Browns had spotted Maggie and Johnny too, of course.

Not long ago, every time they’d seen Maggie, they’d been grinding their teeth over how she and Franklin seemed to be getting closer. Now when they looked at her, they didn’t even bother pretending. The smugness was written all over their faces.

A moment later, Maggie’s phone buzzed.

Unknown number again.

She caught the first line: [Did you see the bracelet on my sister’s wrist? Brotherinlaw]

She didn’t bother reading the rest. Blocked and deleted, same as always.

She didn’t need to finish it to know what it was going to say.

Because Sophia had already made sure the whole room heard it. When other socialites had started asking Julia about the bracelet, Sophia had practically announced it to anyone within earshot: Franklinf had given it to her. It had belonged to a private collector, a oneofakind piece. Julia had laid eyes on it once and loved it. When Franklin found out, he’d paid a serious amount of money to get it for her.

Sophia had probably been worried Maggie hadn’t caught every word, hence the followup text.
