Mr. CEO Your Wife Has Wanted a Divorce for a Long Time (by Zora Pradeep) novel Chapter 636

Chapter 636: Nothing to Do With Them

Rex was on decent terms with Nolan and Quaid, but the four of them rarely got together outside of formal settings.

If Maggie and Johnny were both there, Reed could have easily brought Rex along too. More face time with people like Nolan and Quaid could only be good for Rex.

But Reed hadn’t even mentioned it to him.

If that server hadn’t posted the photo online, Rex never would have known his dad went out to dinner with Nolan’s crew today.

Yves wasn’t the only one who couldn’t figure it out. Rex was just as lost.

Had Maggie and Johnny been talking trash about him to Nolan? Was that why Nolan’s group didn’t want him around, and why his old man hadn’t bothered to invite him?

But Reed was his father. And yeah, the two of them butted heads sometimes, but Rex knew one thing for sure: no matter how much Maggie and Johnny had going for them, if they’d actually gone around badmouthing him to Nolan and the others, Reed would never look at Maggie the way he clearly did. That just wasn’t how his father operated.

After he hung up, Rex’s first instinct was to call Reed directly. Then he figured the dinner might still be going on, so he switched to texting

instead.

He forwarded the server’s photo to Reed, then typed: You guys went out again? How come nobody called me?

Reed was midconversation with Maggie and the others when the message came through. He raised an eyebrow and typed back: You wanted to

come?

Rex: Dad what kind of dumb question is that?

Whatever issues he had with Maggie and Johnny, he still wanted every chance he could get to spend time with people like Quaid and Ryan.

Reed: Next time. I’ll bring you next time.

Rex: ……

That same evening, Franklin and Maria headed back to the family estate.

Maria was the first one to notice the news about Maggie’s dinner with Nolan and Ryan’s group.

She went still for a second. Stella caught her expression and asked, What is it?

Maria handed her the phone. Stella looked at the photo, paused, then passed it to Felix.

Felix took it, puzzled.

They’d already heard about Maggie’s award. Now, looking at the photo, Felix was quiet for a beat, then he smiled. Maggie’s got a bright future ahead of her.

As a fellow politician, he understood what that photo meant. The fact that Maggie was sitting at a table with Quaid and the others said everything. People like that don’t let just anyone into their circle. And the fact that they’d let someone post the photo online meant Maggie wasn’t just an acquaintance, she was close with them.

She’d made it in. She was one of them now.

Maria understood that perfectly well too.

Which was exactly why she looked so thrown off.

She took the phone back and handed it to Franklin. He looked it over, gave a quiet mm,and handed it back.

His expression hadn’t changed at all. Maria studied him. You already knew she was close with them?

Ran into them golfing together a while back,Franklin said.
