Lillian knew she couldn’t escape–not now, not with her body this weak. So she didn’t even try.
In the end, she let Julian carry her out of the car
The moment the wind hit her face, it felt like ice picks driving into her skull.
The temperature had dropped since earlier.
And Laurel Manor, perched up on the hill, was always colder than down in the city. Always.
Lillian shivered, curling into herself against the chill.
Julian glanced down. “Cold?”
She didn’t acknowledge him. Didn’t even look his way.
He just pulled his coat tighter around her and walked faster, striding toward the house.
Helen climbed out of the car behind them and hurried to catch up.
Inside, the heating was already cranked.
Julian carried Lillian straight up to her room. “Starting today, you’re on bed rest for the next month. Minimum.”
Lillian’s brow furrowed. “Why?”
“Doctor said your system’s out of balance. Your cycle’s thrown off. You need time to recover.”
The word cycle landed like a slap. Lillian’s face went dark.
Right now, that word felt like the cruelest kind of joke.
She practically spat the words. “Get out.”
Just hearing him talk about her body–about any of it–made her see red.
Julian opened his mouth, ready to say more.

But Lillian was done. She rolled over, yanked the blankets up, and buried herself completely.
Seeing that, Julian let it go.
“Rest, then.“.
He turned and walked out.
The second the door clicked shut, Lillian reached for her phone.
She dialed a number.
George picked up on the first ring. “Miss.”
Her voice stayed low. “Speed up the timeline for moving the biotech firm to the Western Continent.”
The other projects, the studios–those were easy enough to relocate. But the life sciences company? That one meant something to her. Years of work. Years of building.
George’s tone was steady. “Already in motion. Alpha Edmund’s handling things on the Western Continent end as well.”
“Good.”
Upstairs, in the study.
Thomas walked in to find Julian smoking, idly flipping a lighter back and forth in his hand.
The man looked wrecked. Deep in it.
Thomas stepped closer. “Alpha.”
Julian’s voice was cold. “She talks?”
“Dorothy’s still denying everything. Insists Margaret and Iris didn’t pay her off. Says it was a genuine misdiagnosis.”
At that, something sharp flickered in Julian’s eyes.
“Still denying it.”
The words came out wrapped in frost.
Victor arrived moments later.

Julian had called him over, and he’d come straight from wherever he’d been. The second he stepped into the study, the smoke hit him like a wall.
So thick Victor almost turned around and walked back out. “You trying to burn the place down?”
It was suffocating. Absolutely suffocating.
Julian ignored the edge in Victor’s voice, took another long drag, then tossed the cigarette pack toward him.
Victor waved it off. “You smoke enough for both of us. I’m good.”
The smell alone was almost too much. If he lit one too, they’d probably trigger the fire alarm.
“So why’d you call me here?”
It was nearly dark.
If this was about dinner, they never ate at the manor, way-always went out somewhere.
Julian tapped ash into the tray.
Then he looked at Victor. “How do you calm down an Omega when they’re really, really angry?”
Victor blinked. “What do you mean?”
Really, really angry?
Was he talking about Lillian?
Victor paused. Before Julian could say more, he cut in. “So now you want to calm her down?
“You’re just now figuring out she’s furious?
“You didn’t get it before?”
Julian said nothing. Just watched him.
That stare made Victor uneasy. “You’re asking me? You’ve lived with her for two years. Shouldn’t you know her temper by now?”
Julian’s voice dropped. “She really miscarried.”
Victor went still.

Whatever he’d been about to say next died in his throat,
With those three words, the whole study seemed to freeze.

Julian took a long drag, finishing off the last half of his cigarette in one pull. “She really miscarried. And I didn’t believe her
For a moment, his voice carried something that sounded almost like despair.
Maybe he understood now–deep down–that Lillian would never forgive him for this.
That was why she’d been pushing so hard lately to dissolve the bond,
Everyone thought she was just throwing a fit. That she didn’t actually want to leave.
But nobody expected the “fit” to keep escalating
With everything she’d done to the Graves Pack recently–she’d practically turned the whole city upside down.
This wasn’t a tantrum.
This was real. She wanted out.
Because when she said she’d been pregnant, when she said she’d lost the baby because of Iris, Julian hadn’t believed a word,
Victor drew a sharp breath. “It’s confirmed? She was actually pregnant?”
Julian had never believed it before. But Victor had. Always.
Julian nodded.
Victor’s frown deepened. “That… that complicates things. Doesn’t it?”
At those words, Julian’s gaze sharpened into something almost lethal.
