Chapter 490 Shirley and Daphne Threatened Anna
Anna still refused to admit that Zera was her daughter.
She took 30,000 dollars from her purse and pushed it into Shirley’s hand.
“Shirley, we’re family. If I had money, I would always look out for you.
Shirley’s face brightened at the sight of the cash, and she was about to keep it, but Daphne slapped it away.
Daphne said, “Aunt Anna, if you and Zera join the high society, even a random purse will cost a million. And you’re giving Shirley only 30,000? Do you think she’s some beggar?”
Anna let out an annoyed laugh. “Daphne, who told you that?”
Yes, she was carrying George’s child, but she had no official status. The money he gave her for living costs was a secret, hidden from his nagging wife.
She had never even owned a million–dollar bag.
Shirley came back to her senses and refused at once.
“I raised Zera like my own daughter for all these years. I fed her, bought her clothes, paid for college. You can’t brush me off with a little bit of money!”
Daphne added, “Shirley is right. If you don’t pay properly, we’ll go straight to the Hill Estate tomorrow and find that ungrateful brat, Zera!”
As soon as Anna heard they planned to barge into the Hill Estate, fear shot through her.
She clenched her teeth and pulled out a bank card.
She handed it to Shirley. “Shirley, there’s 300,000 on this card. Take it for now.”
She had to calm them down. She couldn’t let them cause trouble at the Hill Estate.
She tried to soothe them. “Don’t let outsiders stir you up. If Zera were really my daughter, why would I ever abandon her?
“Yes, I’m pregnant with a wealthy man’s child, but I don’t have a title yet. If you make a scene, both Zera and I will be ruined. We’ll end up with nothing. And you won’t get anything either.”
Her words finally calmed the angry Shirley and Daphne.

But Daphne would never give up such a great chance. “Don’t try to trick us. We already have proof.”
Shirley quickly added, “I’ll give you one month. First, buy your nephew a villa near a top school in the city center and get him a nice car. Then move the two kids into an elite private school. As for how much you owe me for everything I lost, I’ll tell you when I figure it out.”
Anna almost exploded. “Shirley, I’m still living in a rented place. How am I supposed to afford a house and a car for you?”
Shirley waved her hand boldly. “How? Ask your rich man. Or have your daughter ask the Hills. If you can’t even give us these basic things, then don’t blame us when we reveal everything.”
Daphne said, “Aunt Anna, we have evidence you and Zera are mother and daughter. Don’t even think of lying. We’re not afraid of anything. If this gets exposed, you’re the ones who’ll suffer.”
She stared at the bank card in Shirley’s hand. Then she grabbed Shirley and pulled her away. Anna watched them head into the apartment building, then turned around and left in a panic.
Late that night, at the Regal Club.
Noel knocked on the private room door and stepped inside. “Mr. Winter, Mrs. Guinevere went to see the Caldwells.”
Tyrone slowly rolled an empty glass between his fingers. His face didn’t change at all as he gave a quiet “Mm.”
Noel quietly left the room.
Brad looked at Tyrone and asked, “Even if Zera offended you before, did you really need to treat her this harshly?”
Tyrone put his glass down and took a cigarette out of the pack.
Brad said, “If you wanted to force the Caldwells out of Vleka, you have tons of ways to do it. Why act nice on purpose?”
Tyrone still didn’t reply. Brad suddenly sat up straighter. “Don’t tell me you still like her and can’t go through with it.”
Tyrone stared at Brad like he was a fool.
He lit the cigarette and held it between his fingers, but didn’t take a single drag.

When he finally talked, his voice was cold and empty.
He said, “Letting her leave Vleka is way too easy.”
He wanted her dead.
In her previous life, she killed people and broke the law, and still only ended up with a life
sentence.
This time, he wanted her to fall apart little by little, get more and more full of herself, then crash until she could never get back up again.
Brad shrank under Tyrone’s cold stare. “Tyrone, you’re the Winter Group’s heir. If you want to play tricks, fine. But don’t even think about murder or robbery. That’s a real crime!”
Tyrone’s lips curled, sharp and icy. “She doesn’t deserve for me to do it myself.”
Brad asked, “Did Aella break up with you because you dated Zera before? Did she think you were gross?”
Tyrone shot him a look. The cigarette was slightly crushed in his hand.
Monday.
In the hospital hallway, Aella ran right into Daniel.
Aella greeted him openly. “Dr. Hill.”
Daniel stopped, gave her a slight nod, and watched her walk by.
He had a lot he wanted to say, but since it was working hours, he couldn’t bother her.
From a distance, Zera noticed the dazed look on Daniel’s face. She hurried over. “Brother!”
She spoke louder on purpose, so Aella and everyone else nearby could hear her.
