Tyrone wanted to get engaged to Aella, and Virginia had long since seen straight through her son’s feelings.
The two sets of parents had already talked it over in private.
Once Aella finished her exams, their engagement could finally move onto the agenda.
Tyrone was too busy to pull himself away, and Aella’s parents completely understood.
Even so, Aella still felt a little disappointed.
Tyrone knew perfectly well today was her exam day; even if he was abroad and drowning in work, he could at least find time to make a call, right?
The more she thought about it, the lower her mood sank, until she felt downright deflated.
But then, she forced herself to look at it another way.
Tyrone had promised her before that once she finished her exams, he would give her an
answer.
In just two more days, she could finally ask him for that answer.
Just two more days–she could hold out.
When Aella arrived at the testing center, the gate was already packed with parents seeing their kids off.
She drew in a deep breath and straightened up. “Dad, Mom, Virginia, it’s way too hot out here. Go on home and cool off. I’ll do my best inside.”
After she said that, Aella turned to greet a classmate.
Tyrone, in a suit and tie with a bouquet of sunflowers in his hands, called out to her, “Aella.”
She spun around, met his eyes, and ran toward him with a bright smile. “I thought you were abroad on a business trip?”
Like always, Aella jumped straight into his arms.
Tyrone quickly shoved the flowers into her arms to block her and murmured, “I was passing by and wanted to see you. I’m heading to the airport right after this.”

Behind him, Virginia couldn’t help laughing at how shameless her son looked.

He had clearly pushed back his flight and gone out of his way to detour here, yet he insisted on calling it “passing by.”
From the way he’d been buried in work and still hadn’t managed to see this girl, it was obvious he’d been missing her like crazy.
Aella looked up at him, her eyes curving with mischief. “Tyrone, if I do well this time, do I get a reward?”
Tyrone’s gaze softened with affection. “If you get into an international conservatory of music, whatever you want, you can have it.”
He’d been so busy taking over the company that he hadn’t had the time to properly be with her.
After some time apart, she really did look a little thinner, and Tyrone’s hand lifted instinctively, wanting to pull her into a hug.
But as he glanced around at the crowd, his raised hand slowly fell back to his side, and he forced himself to hold back.
In just two more days, Aella would be done with exams–and she was already an adult.
They could date openly, get engaged, even move in together.
Aella couldn’t help grinning and hooked her pinky with his.
Not far away, Noel watched his CEO and a little girl standing at the school gate, fingers tangled together, and he almost dropped his jaw.
Had their CEO really delayed his flight and come all this way just to see his “wife” off to the SATS?
Miriam walked over, took the flowers from Aella’s arms, and urged her to head inside.
Tyrone stayed where he was, watching until Aella and her classmates disappeared through the gate into the testing center.
In her white dress with her hair tied up in a ponytail, the smile she gave him over her shoulder shone even brighter than the morning sun.
Three days later, Aella finished the SATs and officially closed the book on her high school life.
She’d obtained her racing license a long time ago.

But she still wasn’t 18, didn’t have a regular driver’s license, and technically wasn’t allowed on the road.
Miriam and Warren had it all planned out: she should use the summer break to get her license.
Aella obeyed like a good girl and signed up for a driving school.
Once she had that license in hand, she could finally have a sports car of her own.
She had originally thought Tyrone’s business trip would last a week, maybe two at most.
She didn’t expect that by the time she passed her driving test, Tyrone still hadn’t come back from the branch office.
When she counted the days, it had been almost a full month.
Even though Tyrone called her every day, he never talked about what was happening at work.
Unable to stand waiting anymore, Aella finally went to Virginia to ask what was going on.
It turned out several senior managers at the branch had been cooking the books and skimming money, and the staff below them were nothing but a scattered mess.
Tyrone had gone in and gutted the place from top to bottom, replacing almost everyone; all of Winter Group’s shareholders were watching him, and this was his chance to prove he deserved the position, so he simply couldn’t come home yet.
After hearing that, Aella went home and immediately decided she was going abroad to find Tyrone herself.
The shareholders were making his life difficult, and the branch office was in shambles from top to bottom.
To show that Tyrone could truly command respect, his parents had refused to give him any help at all.
He’d been alone overseas all this time, under crushing pressure and working himself to the bone.
