Chapter 178
Kendall followed them up the stairs. This building was a walk–up with no elevator.
Across the way was a newly built building with elevators.
Kendall quickly followed the two of them to the third floor, stopping outside apartment 302.

The two stood at the doorway, chatting, while Kendall stood off to the side, quietly listening in on their conversation.
“Kayden, when are you finally going to divorce your wife? I’m pretty far along now, and it’s a boy. I don’t want my son to be called a bastard as soon as he was born,” a girl said.
“Ah…” Kendall gasped, covering her mouth with both hands. Her eyes widened, her pupils quivering, as silent tears streamed down her face.
Kayden said, “Louisa, just hang in there a bit longer. Having a baby isn’t cheap, you know? Kendall just landed a job, and I’ll find some random doctor to treat my daughter. We’ll squeeze another couple hundred grand out of her.
That cash can get you pampered at a luxury postpartum care center, and our son will have plenty to spend when he arrives.”
Kayden grinned at Louisa, his eyes full of mischief.
Louisa gave his chest a hard thump. “Seriously, if Kendall ever finds out you scammed her out of her daughter’s medical money just to buy us a house, she’d probably drop dead from rage.
‘Don’t you dare tell her. If she really does kick the bucket, we’ll be stuck raising your daughter. I’m not about to take care of
her.
Kayden said, “Don’t worry, I’ll make sure she takes her daughter and leaves. After a bit, I’ll get some other doctor to tell her the kid’s condition is critical and needs a ton of cash.
Then I’ll trick her into selling the house, and we’ll swoop in and grab it for ourselves. That place will belong to our boy, and we’ll be rolling in cash.”
Kayden was good–looking, about six feet tall, but when he smiled, there was a sly, almost sinister edge to it.
Louisa laughed, “Once our son is born, that house better be in his name.”
Kayden said, “Of course, you little vixen. Ever since you got pregnant, I haven’t been able to get close to you. Go on, get inside. I need to head back and take care of the kid.
“If Kendall comes home and sees the baby crying, she’ll just blame me for not looking after her properly.”
Louisa could tell he was feeling put–upon. She said, “Kayden, I know you’re feeling wronged right now, but just hang in there a little longer.
“Once we’ve drained all her assets, we’ll cut her loose. After that, you won’t have to deal with any of this nonsense anymore.
“Then we’ll be rolling in cash, living the high life,” she added, her eyes gleaming with scheming.
She’d played the part of a rich girl to get close to Kayden, all just to find someone to clean up her mess and responsibility for her.
Kayden said, “I just can’t bring myself to leave. Let me come in with you. I just want to hold you a little longer

Chapter 178
Louisa half–heartedly protested as he pulled her inside. “You’re such a tease! I’m pregnant, remember?”
Her flirty voice was cut off as the door closed, shutting out the rest of the world.
Kendall collapsed to the floor, her whole world spinning.

All the money she’d scraped together for her daughter’s treatment, Kayden had stolen it to buy a house for someone else.
Every doctor he’d brought in had told her there was no hope, but it was all a setup. Kayden had been pulling the strings rom the shadows, paying off those doctors to keep her fooled.
And she’d been played for a fool the entire time.
Kendall thought, “That scumbag conned me out of everything, bought a house for another woman, and even got her pregnant. What a joke. My whole life had been one big lie.‘
Kendall let out a bitter, hollow laugh, the sound echoing in the empty hallway.
Kendall had been an orphan since she was little, taken in by her adoptive mom, who treated her as her own. The only thing her mom left her was the house she lives in now.
Her adoptive mom had always wanted nothing but happiness for Kendall. She’d tried to stop Kendall from marrying Kayden, but Kendall was stubborn and wouldn’t hear of it.
Back then, her mom had warned her that Kayden was not a good guy.
But Kendall was so blinded by love, she ignored every word her mom said.
Now, she finally realized the true depth of her mom’s heartfelt warnings.
Kayden wasn’t just a bad guy. He was an absolute scumbag.
Kendall stared coldly at the tightly shut door, a sneer on her face. She thought, ‘Kayden, you’re finished.
