“Mr. Ashford, are you even listening to me?” Miles waved his hand in front of Dylan’s face.
Dylan snapped back to reality and looked at Miles. “What’s up?”
Miles frowned. ‘He really wasn’t listening to me,‘ he thought.
“Mr. Ashford’s car has been recovered. I found a paternity test report inside, but it’s all water–damaged. I can’t tell who it was for.” Miles said.
Dylan frowned, recalling how his father had yanked out some of his hair.
He wondered, ‘Was that test about me?
‘Did Dad suspect I wasn’t his real son?‘
Suddenly, he remembered his father’s words from that day. His mom had been seeing someone else.
A cold glint flashed in his eyes as he smirked. “Miles, go find out who my mom was seeing on the side.”
Miles was taken aback. He thought, ‘I don’t even want to remember this myself. Why is he bringing it up now?
‘If this ever got out, the whole Ashford family would be a laughingstock.
What was Beatrice thinking?
‘She handed her own grandson over to Eliana to raise, and then went off and had an affair with another man.
This is just ridiculous.’
Miles considered himself a pretty decent guy, but even he couldn’t handle this.
“Alright, I’ll look into it. But we’ve kept it under wraps that Mr. Ashford busted out through the window and escaped. He must still be out there somewhere,” Miles said.
Dylan was thinking the same thing, but he didn’t call off the people searching for his dad. He had to keep up the act.
“Any luck finding the truck driver yet?” Dylan got to his feet, his stomach giving him that familiar, nagging pain. He scowled. He’d been so swamped lately, he barely had time to grab a proper meal.
His stomach had been acting up like this every single day.
Miles answered, “The police found the truck, but the driver is still missing. Once we get our hands on him, we’ll know who tried to kill Mr. Ashford.”
Miles thought, I have already pushed the investigation forward, but it is still gonna take some time.
Dylan’s expression turned icy, his lips pressed into a thin line. After a moment, he asked, “Did you find out where Stella is living?”
Miles shook his head. Just as he expected, they hadn’t found her location.
He forced himself to say, “Mr. Ashford, I couldn’t figure out where Mrs. Hale is staying, but I did find out she’s been coming to the company a lot lately.

“They brought Mrs. Brett in as their design director. And that company you were planning to buy? It’s actually Ms. Hale’s.
“Yeah, you used Eliana as an excuse to buy it. Ms. Hale must’ve felt pretty hurt when she found out.”
Dylan was shocked to his core. He thought, ‘Now it made sense why she was upstairs that day.
‘She was absolutely furious, accusing me of setting her up with the whole thing about the kid back then.
After everything that went down, Stella would never, ever forgive me.’
Dylan’s stomach pain flared up even worse. His face turned ashen, and he slumped back into his office chair.
Miles looked worried. ‘He never takes care of himself,’ Miles thought.
Miles said, “Mr. Ashford, you really need to eat properly and look after your health. Maybe you should consider getting treatment abroad. Hospitals overseas might actually cure you.”
