Beatrice frowned. “I brought the baby back and left her at an orphanage. I’ll go check on her tomorrow. She looked really pale and sickly back then. I need to see how she’s doing.”
Eliana knew the baby had an infection. Back then, to keep Tyler from finding out, she had no choice but to ask Beatrice to send the baby away.
“It was just a mild infection. She could’ve been cured. I was just so scared, and that’s why I asked you to handle it. She’s my daughter, my own flesh and blood.
“How could I ever abandon her? You already left me once. Why couldn’t you protect my daughter? She’s your granddaughter, too,” Eliana said.
Beatrice froze, seeing the blame in Eliana’s eyes. She felt a wave of guilt wash over her. If she hadn’t lost her mind back then, she never would’ve gone through with it.
Eliana was right. She was Beatrice’s granddaughter. Beatrice could never bring herself to give her up.
Eliana kept her head down, still feeling the pain as she talked about it. That baby was her own flesh and blood. If their birthdays had been just a month or two apart, she never would’ve let Stella take her in.
“We’ll go check tomorrow. If we can’t find her, we’ll just find another kid to take her place,” Eliana said.
Eliana had already made up her mind. She was set on getting her hands on the Lennox family’s fortune.
Beatrice looked at her, seeing the confidence in Eliana’s eyes, and sighed helplessly, “That path with Dylan is closed. If the Lennox family can give you a life of luxury, maybe that’s your best shot now.”
Eliana felt unwilling to let it go. She thought, ‘Why did Dylan have to give up on me?‘
She felt heartbroken and whispered, “Dylan’s such a good man. If only I could be with him, I know he’d cherish me forever.”
Beatrice’s eyes burned with murderous intent. Just thinking about how Stella had ruined her plans made her want to rip Stella to shreds.
But Stella was just too damn lucky. No matter how many times Beatrice tried, she just couldn’t finish her off.
“Alright, what’s done is done. We can only try to make the best of it now,” Beatrice said with a sigh.
‘Dylan really was the best choice, Beatrice thought, feeling a pang of regret,
Beatrice didn’t dwell on it. At her age, she couldn’t afford to be broke. The Lennox family could give her a life of luxury, at least she’d have something to hope for.
Beatrice and Eliana made a beeline for the orphanage.
Dylan was also brought into the police station.
His lawyer showed up right after.
Nova was the one in charge of the case this time.
But Nova was brought in by Gray, who didn’t trust anyone else to handle it.

This wasn’t Dylan’s first time at the police station.
Nova was dressed in her police uniform, her pretty face framed by the crisp collar. She shot Dylan a hostile look.
Dylan could feel the hostility coming off her, but he just stared back, saying nothing.
Nova fixed her cold gaze on Dylan. “This isn’t your first time here, is it, Mr. Ashford? What kind of beef do you have with Ms. Hale that you keep hurting her, and still manage to walk away squeaky clean every time?”
Dylan flashed a wicked grin, slouching back in his chair as he eyed the pretty Nova. “Officer, do we have some kind of issue? The way you’re looking at me. It’s like you want me dead. You know Stella, don’t you?”
Nova narrowed her eyes at him, refusing to answer.
Damn, he’s good. He caught on,‘ Nova thought. But she wasn’t about to admit it.
Dylan raised an eyebrow, his smirk growing even more devilish. “I told you, I didn’t do it. She’s my ex–wife and the mother of my child. Why would I ever kill her?”
Only an investigation will tell if you did it,” Nova said coolly.
Officer, I’m telling you, I never did anything to hurt. No, kill Stella? That’s not me. She’s helped me out before. No matter how cold–blooded I am, I’d never go after someone who’s done me a solid,” Dylan said.
Dylan wasn’t lying. He meant every word. He’d never even considered hurting Stella.
