The more Serena watched, the more her heart pounded. Eliana was not just vicious; she was also a gambler.
The later videos made it clear. After losing at the tables, she’d come home and still hit Liam, cursing up a storm, and sometimes hitting Beatrice up for cash.
Once she got the money and hung up, she’d call Beatrice a moron, jumping around and whipping her head like a mante
Serena couldn’t bring herself to watch any more, but there was no way in hell she’d ever let Eliana get the Lennox family’s backing.
She put the phone back. She just didn’t have the guts to keep watching.
Every time Eliana hit Liam, it felt like the blows landed on Serena herself. It tore her apart inside.
With shaky hands, Serena finally managed to hook up the phone to the charger. Then she sat down to rest for a bit.
After her nerves settled, she headed upstairs and spotted her son sitting quietly, lost in a book.
If he ran into something he didn’t get, he’d ask Bennett, who looked genuinely happy to have something to do every day.
Bennett and Liam were both totally focused.
Serena felt her heartache melt away in an instant. ‘Liam’s finally back with me. From now on, it’s just the two of us, and we’re going to be happy, no matter what,‘ she thought.
She didn’t want to interrupt them, so she slipped quietly downstairs.
She wandered through the garden for a while, and started to feel a lot better.
After walking for a bit and letting her mind settle, she found a bench, sat down, and watched the leaves drifting from the trees nearby. The air was getting colder.
Her phone buzzed. She glanced at the screen. It was Spencer. A faint smile tugged at her lips.
“Hey, Spencer,” she said, her voice warm with a smile.
“Serena, are you free tonight? Let’s grab dinner, and after that, there’s a charity auction we could check out. I heard there’s a gorgeous diamond up for bid, a rare purple one,” Spencer said, his voice as gentle as ever.
Serena thought for a moment. She didn’t have anything going on tonight, so she agreed.
“Sure! Just don’t keep me out too late, Spencer. I want to spend time with Liam,” she said.
Spencer understood and chuckled, “Why not bring Liam along? We can all go together.”
Serena shook her head. Bringing Liam wasn’t an option. Jasper couldn’t know Liam was with her yet.
Jasper was Eliana’s sharpest weapon, but it was up to Dylan to destroy that blade himself.
“Spencer, that’s okay. It’s too risky to bring Liam out. We’ll just be gone for a few hours and then head back. Are you at the office? I’ll come find you there,” Serena said.
Spencer gave a helpless chuckle and teased. “Serena, why won’t you tell me where you are? I should be the one picking you up, not the other way around.

Chapter 207

“I’m the kind of guy who’ll weather any storm with you, and share every bit of happiness, too. How am I supposed to make you happy if you won’t even tell me where you live?”
He was just teasing her.
Serena couldn’t help but laugh at his teasing.
“Maybe someday, I’ll let you know,” she replied,
She knew Spencer would catch her drift.
Spencer was a great guy, but her heart only had room for one person. If that love was over, she knew she’d never fall for anyone else.
