Chapter 213
Serena met his desperate gaze, holding back her fury. She snorted coldly, “Dylan, what do you expect me to beliem? That you never wanted to kill me?”
Her gaze was icy and ruthless.
Dylan felt pain stab through his whole body as her cold gaze cut right through him.
He always remembered how Stella’s eyes always smiled whenever she looked at him.
As soon as he walked in the door, Stella would be there waiting for him.
After he changed and came downstairs, she’d always hand him a cup of fruit water, perfectly warm.
His favorite late–night snacks and treats would be set out on the dining table.
But now, whenever he came back to the villa, it was cold and empty. It didn’t feel like home at all.
Somewhere along the way, that gentle warmth he used to hold onto just slipped away for good.
That warmth had really been his, right there in his hands.
Dylan fixed his deep gaze on Serena. “Stella, I’ve told you before. I didn’t do it. I never wanted to hurt you, not once, he said
Serena met his eyes, calm and unflinching. “You always trust your own story, don’t you? If telling yourself you didn’t do it helps you sleep tonight, then suit yourself,” she replied coldly.
Dylan’s eyes burned with anger. “Stella, when did you get so impossible to talk to?” he snapped.
“I’m not being unreasonable. I haven’t changed at all. I’m just telling it like it is,” Serena shot back.
“Dylan, I’ve already told you, I don’t want to see you again. Please don’t show up in front of me anymore. Whether you did it or not, the police will figure it out,” she said coldly.
“Wouldn’t it be better if you really had nothing to do with it?” she added, her tone icy.
Dylan felt a lump in his throat. ‘Wouldn’t it be better if I really had nothing to do with it?‘ he thought.
He never once wanted to hurt her. Back then, when she helped out the Ashford family, he’d been nothing but grateful
He looked down at her, jaw clenched, his eyes icy and completely devoid of warmth.
Her lack of trust in him was eating him alive. He’d been bottling it up for so long, but today, he felt like he was about to snap.
“Stella, come with me. We need to talk,” Dylan said. He reached for her hand, trying to pull her along.
Serena’s brows furrowed as she snapped, “Dylan, let go of me.”
Spencer’s eyes grew cold. He stood up and blocked Dylan, glaring at him. “Dylan, back off. Serena doesn’t want to leave with you.”
Spencer’s features, his straight nose and thin lips, were set in anger, his whole expression simmering with fury.
Their eyes met, and the air crackled with tension, a battle with no words, no weapons, but neither was willing to back down.

Chapter 213
Dylan watched as Spencer stepped up to defend Serena, ready to go head–to–head with him, and the pain in his chest was almost unbearable. “Spencer, we’re friends.”
Spencer said, “So what? Dylan, just because we’re friends doesn’t mean I’m going to stand by and watch you push Serena
around.
“Serena’s been there for you all these years, taking care of you like nobody else. And this is how you treat her?”
Spencer couldn’t help but feel a pang of jealousy seeing how Serena always looked after Dylan.
He scoffed, “Dylan, having a brain is a real blessing. Shame you missed out on that.”
Spencer gave Dylan a push, and Dylan staggered a little, barely keeping his balance.
Spencer was fuming. He and Serena had been really enjoying themselves over dinner, but then Dylan crashed the party and messed it all up.
“Dylan, you two are divorced now, so quit bothering Serena. What do you want? Spit it out already!” Spencer snapped.
Dylan watched Spencer getting all riled up, but he just stayed cool, a wicked grin on his lips. “Spencer, who can ever really explain what goes on between a husband and wife?” he shot back, mocking.
It finally dawned on Dylan that Spencer hadn’t warned him about anything. Spencer just sat back and waited for him and Stella to get divorced so he could end up with her.
Dylan let out a bitter laugh, his eyes sharp and cold as he stared at Spencer. ‘Being friends doesn’t mean a thing. He was still plotting against me the whole time, he thought.
‘Man, I was such a fool. How did I never see what Spencer was thinking all along?‘ he thought to himself.
“Spencer, do you honestly see me as your real friend? Dylan? Or is it all just an act? With Stella standing right here, do you even have the guts to tell the truth?” Dylan shot back.
