The man towered over Louisa, his presence intimidating and his voice cold as ice. “Where’s the child?”

Louisa hesitated for a split second, but quickly regained her composure. She knew she had to make sure that lady saw the child today if she wanted to walk away from this unscathed.

She pointed at Kendall’s retreating figure, hatred flashing in her eyes. If it weren’t for Kendall, she wouldn’t be in this mess right now.
