Dylan slumped in his seat, feeling defeated. He just couldn’t figure out why Serena kept saying he was always defending Eliana.

Chloe glanced at the busy street, her tone casual. “Serena, this isn’t really the place to talk. Why don’t we find somewhere private and have a proper chat?”

Serena shot her down without hesitation. “Mrs. Grant, if this is about your son and me, then I’m not going to entertain it. There’s nothing going on between us. We’re just business partners.”

“Business partners?” Chloe sneered. “So now that Dylan’s tossed you aside, you think you can use my son as your next easy mark? Stella, do you think you can just walk all over the Grant family?”

Serena’s brows knitted, Chloe’s disdainful look making her skin crawl.

“Mrs. Grant, you’re the one making your son look like a fool. There’s nothing shady between us. As his mother, you just buy into every rumor you hear. Where does that leave your son?” Serena shot back coldly.

Serena’s cold words left Chloe momentarily speechless. “Humph! Always so sharp–tongued. My son doesn’t have to de business with Kismet Bar. I’m not about to let a bitch like you sink your claws into him.”

There was no way she’d ever let an orphan like Serena.
