Chapter 280
Kendall was caught off guard. The moment she first met Zoe, she felt like she’d met her before, but with all the drama surrounding her daughter, she hadn’t given it much thought.
Zoe had already gotten Kendall’s sample. She asked, “Kendall, I hope you don’t mind me asking, but are you your parents biological child?”
Zoe felt an immediate sense of closeness to Kendall.
She knew it was a bit forward, but she couldn’t help herself.
She’d been holding back for so long, desperate to find her daughter.
Whenever Zoe met someone who resembled her, she couldn’t help but wonder if they might be family and felt the urge to get a DNA test.
Kendall shook her head and said, “No, I grew up in an orphanage. My adoptive parents brought me home when I was three, and they gave me a loving home.
“But my adoptive dad passed away two years ago, and my mom was so heartbroken that she followed him not long after. Now, it’s just me.”
Zoe was stunned. ‘Is the world really that crazy sometimes?‘ she wondered.
Zoe’s heart leapt. She’d been adopted from an orphanage! Suddenly, hope flooded Zoe’s eyes.
Zoe said, “Kendall, I really feel like we look so much alike. You’re probably twenty–six, right? You remind me so much of myself when I was younger. Would you be up for a DNA test?
“Even if you’re not my daughter, I’d love for you to think of me as your mom. Honestly, the moment I saw you, I just felt so close to you.”
Kendall shook her head. “Mrs. Ashford, I wish I could help, but I just don’t have the time right now. Just take my sample with you. I need to go find my real daughter.
“Beatrice and Eliana set me up, and because of their scheming, another woman who holds a grudge against me secretly swapped my child. Right now, finding my real daughter is all that matters.”
Zoe slammed her hand on the table in anger, making Kendall jump.
Zoe gritted her teeth, her voice shaking with fury. “Those two heartless snakes, they won’t get away with this.”
Meanwhile, Eliana left with Kendall.
Mariana stood at the entrance of the restaurant, watching as Eliana walked away with her granddaughter. A cold, murderous glint flashed in Mariana’s eyes.
Serena caught sight of Mariana, and a knowing smile played at the corners of her lips.
‘Eliana, you have no idea. Mariana is the real nightmare waiting for you, Serena thought to herself.
Serena, Kendall, and Zoe exchanged contact information.
Zoe took both her and Kendall’s samples to get a DNA test done.

Chapter 280
Once they stepped outside, Serena saw how troubled Kendall looked and said, “Mrs. Brett, let me keep you company for dinner tonight”
Kendall smiled and nodded, “Alright!”
Serena picked out a cozy little restaurant, and after they sat down, she poured Kendall a glass of water.
Seeing how troubled Kendall still looked, Serena tried to reassure her. “Mrs. Brett, now that Cassie’s back with the Lennox family, she’ll have a great life. You can trust Mariana. She’s nothing like Eliana.
“The Lennox family is super wealthy, and you know about Lennox Group. Mariana’s an honest and respected businesswoman. Cassie’s in good hands, so you really don’t have to worry.”
“But Eliana is Cassie’s real mom, and just knowing what kind of person she is, that’s what really worries me.” Kendall admitted, her anxiety clear in her voice.
Serena said, “Don’t worry. Mariana’s got this. If you’re still feeling uneasy, you can always go over to her place and see Cassie. Mariana is fair and understanding. She’ll definitely let you see your daughter.
“Just not yet. She wants to get to the bottom of everything first before she lets you and Cassie meet.”
Kendall looked at Serena, excitement shining in her eyes. Serena was always so composed. No matter what was going on, she never seemed rattled, always looked like she had everything handled.
Kendall asked eagerly, “Ms. Hale, do you know
