Grief was like an invisible shackle, binding Eliana so tightly that she couldn’t break free, couldn’t let go.
Why did my life end up like this?‘ Eliana couldn’t help but wonder. ‘But what if the Lennox family finds out about Cassie? What am I supposed to do now?”
If the Lennox family ever found out she’d brought back a son before and sent her daughter to an orphanage, she’d end up with nothing.
And they’d take her daughter away from her.
Eliana couldn’t bring herself to let Cassie play alone.
She picked up her phone and called Beatrice.
‘Eliana, Beatrice answered.
Beatrice had just arrived downstairs.
‘Mom, what if the Lennox family finds out about what happened before?” Eliana asked, her voice trembling with worry.
Beatrice already had a plan.
“What’s there to worry about? Just blame it all on Louisa. Say she took the baby as soon as it was born. That lie will hold up.
‘Besides, that woman skipped town last night. She won’t dare show her face again. Say whatever you need to. The Lennox family won’t have any evidence,” Beatrice said calmly.
‘As for you and Dylan, I’ll take care of it,” she added.
Eliana felt a wave of relief wash over her.
If I can just cover up the truth about the kids, nothing else will matter,‘ Eliana thought to herself.
Eliana let out a sigh of relief, curling up on the couch as she watched Cassie play nearby.
She started scheming about how she could take everything from the Ashford and Lennox families.
Since there was no turning back, she was determined to make her life better.
‘Stella, you exposed the truth and made things hard for me. Well, I’m not going to let you get away with it,’ Eliana thought.
Eliana closed her eyes, letting herself relax for a moment.
Meanwhile, Zoe had already gotten the paternity test results by noon.
She stood alone in the empty hallway, the cold wind from the window whistling past her.
Her eyes were shining with excitement and anticipation.
She quickly opened the paternity test report and flipped straight to the last page.

When she saw the confirmation that they were mother and daughter, Zoe was stunned. Against all odds, she’d stumbled upon her real daughter after all these years.
Zoe covered her mouth, her voice choked with sobs of joy as tears streamed down her face.
Now that she knew Cassie was truly her daughter, Zoe was so overcome she couldn’t stop herself from crying.
That deep, maternal love surged through her in an instant, filling her with a happiness so deep it almost hurt.
‘I found her. After all this time, I really found her,‘ Zoe thought. ‘No wonder Cassie looks so much like me.‘
Back then, when her child was switched at birth, she truly had no idea.
Her mother had died young, and her husband was rarely home. The day she gave birth, she went through the pain alone, all day and night.
She finally delivered her daughter just before dawn the next morning.
She didn’t even get to see her daughter’s face before she lost consciousness from sheer exhaustion. All she remembered was the doctor telling her she’d had a baby girl.
When she woke up, the nurse handed her a baby, just a newborn, too, and Zoe just accepted it, never suspecting a thing.
Thinking about it now, it hit her that the babies must’ve been switched, and even the hospital staff probably had no clue.
The hospital she’d given birth in was just a tiny place, with barely any security or cameras at all.
That was why she’d been watching Beatrice like a hawk this whole time.
And just like she’d suspected, she really did find her real daughter.
A cold glint of hatred flashed in Zoe’s eyes as she thought back to what happened yesterday.
Just imagining how Beatrice let her own daughter raise Zoe’s granddaughter, while Zoe’s real daughter was abandoned in an orphanage, made her blood boil.
She wanted to tear Beatrice apart.
‘It’s all because of that woman that I’ve been kept away from my daughter for all these years, Zoe thought to herself.
Zoe stood at the top of the stairs, her sobs wracking her body, raw and desperate, echoing through the empty hallway.
The cold wind swept through in waves, gradually steadying her breath as she tried to pull herself together.
Her eyes, rimmed red from crying, stared out the window. She was worried sick. ‘How am I supposed to tell Kendall about
all this?
Kendall already had a cruel father and a deadbeat brother.
And now, as her mother, am I really just going to stand by and do nothing for her? Zoe thought.
A steely resolve flashed in Zoe’s eyes. ‘No way. I absolutely can’t let Jasper use Kendall for his own gain, she told herself
Zoe pulled out her phone and called Serena.
Serena was at her desk when she saw Zoe’s name pop up on her screen. She picked up. Serena was at her desk when she saw Zoe’s na

As soon as Serena heard the excitement in Zoe’s voice, it hit her. Kendall must be Zoe’s daughter.
Serena agreed, “Sure, Mrs. Lambert. Just send me the location.”
Zoe was practically buzzing with excitement. “Okay!”
Serena set her phone down and stopped what she was doing.
She swiveled her office chair slightly, her gaze drifting out the floor–to–ceiling windows.
Winter was just around the corner, and the morning sunlight barely reached the lawn, casting dappled shadows that swayed gently in the breeze.
A hint of complicated emotions flickered in her beautiful eyes.
If Kendall really was Jasper’s real daughter, then all the grudges and conflicts between them would finally come to light.
Serena shut down her computer, asked Chris to swing by and pick her up, and left Lyra at home to watch over Liam.
She stood up, changed into something comfortable, and headed out.
Chris’s car was already waiting at the entrance.
The wind was strong, so she pulled her collar up against it, jogged over, and slid into the car.
‘Chris, I sent you an address. That’s where we’re going,” Serena said.
With that, she closed the car door.
Chris pulled up the navigation on his phone. “Ms. Hale, let’s roll.”
Chris was driving a luxury car today, turning heads in the chilly wind. It was a real showstopper.
‘Ms. Hale, when is Mrs. Brett coming back to work? The company’s still just an empty shell, and Mr. Fallon keeps harping on it at every morning meeting,” Chris said, clearly frustrated.
His nephew had been thrown in jail for embezzlement, and Cody couldn’t wait to make his move.
Serena’s voice was calm, but there was a deeper meaning behind her words. “Let him make a fuss. We stirred up all this drama just to get him riled up, didn’t we?”
Chris understood exactly what she meant. He focused on driving, but there was a wild glint in his eyes
That old geezer didn’t stand a chance against Serena.
Serena glanced out the window, the city buzzing with traffic. There was a faint smile in her eyes
It had been a long time since life felt this peaceful For once, she could take a moment to appreciate the scenery
