Serena put down her fork with a huff, clearly annoyed. She could tell something was off with Vivian tonight.

‘Why did she keep mentioning Dylan, making me feel like I am being dragged through the mud again?‘ she wondered.

Serena glared at Vivian. “Vivian, are you saying I’m just asking for it?”

Vivian looked away and nodded. “So, you knew he had feelings for someone else, but you still kept throwing yourself at him?

“You disappeared for four whole years, gave up the best years of your life for that guy, and worked yourself to the bone for

him.

“You came back all battered and bruised, and I haven’t even called you out on it yet. You hurt yourself so badly. Did you ever stop to think about us, the people who care about you? Do you really think you only belong to yourself?”

Serena opened her mouth, but couldn’t get a word out. She knew deep down that Vivian was only looking out for her, even if the truth stung.

“Yeah, call me asking for it if you want. But I’ve finally snapped out of it. I’m done with that guy,” Serena said.

“Really?” Vivian stared at her with wide eyes, a knowing, and almost sly look on her face.

Serena thought she’d had enough of hearing about Dylan, “Seriously, I’m doing great with the baby now”

Vivian nudged. ‘But doesn’t the baby need a dad?”

Serena’s eyes narrowed, her gaze frosted over. “Vivian, did you bring me here just to talk, or is there something else you’re

after?

Vivian gave a sheepish grin. “It’s Cannon Ever since he found out you were back, he’s been wanting to marry you. I told him everything about you, and he said he doesn’t care at all-

Serena cut her off “I mind.”

‘She didn’t even let me finish, Vivian thought.

Vivian looked helpless. “Cannon’s so great, and you’re still out there looking for other guys? He’s liked you since we were kids, Serena. Just give him a chance, will you?”

Vivian tugged at her arm, shaking it playfully.

Serena let out a laugh, half exasperated, half amused. “Vivian, I appreciate your good intentions, but after all this, I’m honestly too embarrassed to face Cannon now.”

Cannon was so outstanding that most guys his age couldn’t even come close to him.

“Alright, I’ll drop it. Cannon’s super shy, so he made me ask you instead. Just pretend I never said anything today, and when you see him, just act like nothing happened, okay?

“Otherwise, he’ll probably spend the rest of his life hiding from you,” Vivian said.

‘Honestly, if he’s too shy to even meet the girl he likes, how’s he ever supposed to get married?‘ Serena couldn’t help but think.

Cannon was just like that, so perfect that it was almost suffocating.
