Falcon had seen Eliana’s work years ago, and he smiled at her. “Eliana, I remember your designs from the last competition. I have a feeling you’ll be taking home the top prize again this year.”
A flicker of emotion crossed Eliana’s face, but her expression quickly settled into one of pure confidence. She hadn’t completely given up on design over the years.
With her past victory and Falcon’s endorsement, she was certain she could win.
“Serena, my dear, you made it.”
A cheerful voice cut through the air. Falcon turned to see Joseph Hayes approaching.
At seventy, Joseph was still a strikingly handsome man, carrying himself not with the frailty of age, but with the steady, commanding presence of a life lived to the fullest.
Falcon’s expression soured.
He and Joseph were well–known rivals in the fashion world, and they rarely missed an opportunity to take a jab at each other.
“Who’s this ‘dear‘ of yours?” Falcon sneered. “Joseph, don’t tell me you’re putting one of your own students in the competition. It’s not like you’ve produced any noteworthy designers lately.”
‘The old man’s losing his touch,‘ Falcon thought. ‘He’ll have no one to carry on his legacy!
Falcon, on the other hand, had found his successor. Once Eliana won, he would take her on as his apprentice, cementing his own name in the annals of fashion history.
Right now, nobody knows who’ll go down in fashion history next.
Joseph’s reputation had grown, but his impossibly high standards meant he’d never find an heir.
Art was already a tough game, and with Joseph always raising the stakes, it was no wonder he still hadn’t found anyone worthy enough to inherit his mantle.
Joseph simply gave Falcon a placid look. “Is there a rule against it?”
“No,” Falcon admitted, gesturing to Eliana. “But Ms. Lambert here was the previous champion. If she wins again, I intend to take her on as my apprentice.”
Eliana’s heart leaped. If she became Falcon Barclay’s apprentice, she would finally be worthy of Dylan. The Ashford family would never be able to question her status again.
“Mr. Barclay, I’ll do my very best,” she said, her voice filled with a mixture of excitement and self–assurance.
Dylan was pleased to see Eliana receiving such high praise.
His gaze, however, drifted to the woman standing beside Joseph. Stella.

She wasn’t looking at him, her attention focused on her quiet conversation with the legendary designer.
Dylan knew that Joseph Hayes carried even more weight in the industry than Falcon. When had Stella gotten to know him?
Joseph was famously stern and unapproachable, yet he was treating Stella with such warmth.
Just who are you, Stella?‘ Dylan wondered.
The woman exuded a kind of power that could build empires.
More judges arrived, each a master of the craft, dressed in unique and exquisite attire.
But even among them, Serena was the undeniable center of attention, her aura so captivating that it was impossible to look away.
Dylan found his own gaze drawn to her again and again.
Joseph, with his natural command of the room, announced for everyone to take their seats. It was time for the competition to begin.
Though it seemed like a small–scale event, the design competition was incredibly influential.
