Crunch—
The sound of twisting metal made Jade look instinctively at her mirror.
A black sedan had slammed into the side of Hudson's SUV, broadsiding him and completely blocking the road.
While she was still staring in shock, her phone rang. It was Julian Foster.
"Go. Now," Julian's calm voice said the second she answered.
Jade looked back at the wreckage.
Hudson had stepped out of his car, his gaze fixed on her disappearing taillights. He looked like he wanted to abandon the crash and chase her on foot, but the driver of the black sedan was already out and blocking his path.
It wasn't hard to figure out that Julian had engineered this "accident" just to give her a opening.
Her mind was a whirlwind of emotion, but she didn't waste the chance. "Understood," she whispered, and floored the gas to stay on Amara's tail.
The Bluenote Club.
In the parking garage, Jade watched from her car as Amara led Cortney toward the private entrance. She stepped out of her car and followed them like a shadow.
The first few floors were easy, but when she reached the top-tier VIP level, she had to stop.
Two massive security guards stood before the only entrance, checking Amara and Cortney's IDs before letting them through.
Jade hid behind a pillar, her mind racing.
Getting through those doors as herself was impossible. She needed a better plan.
She stood there for several long seconds before a solution presented itself.
A janitor.
Every high-end club had cleaning staff, and they were usually invisible to the elite. It was the perfect disguise.
Jade hurried to a utility closet at the end of the hall. she found a standard janitor uniform and threw it over her clothes. She pulled on a surgical mask, grabbed a broom and a dustpan, and lowered her head.
She walked toward the doors. The guards didn't even look at her as they waved her through. She was inside the VIP corridor.
The hallway was silent, making every sound from behind the heavy doors amplified.
She heard the voices of Amara, Cortney, and Lyndon.
She leaned down, pretending to sweep the carpet as she crept closer to the source of the noise.
"Daddy! You said you'd come see me! Why didn't you come?"
Lyndon accepted the title without a second thought.
