From His Ex-Wife to the World's Most Sought-After Restorer (Jade and Hudson) novel Chapter 200

"Wait for me downstairs. We're going in together."

Jade didn't think much of it, assuming Julian had his own business with Silas.

"Fine."

When the two of them appeared at Silas's door together, the man raised an eyebrow, a knowing smirk playing on his lips as he looked at Julian.

"Mr. Foster. I thought you were in the middle of a massive deal. I didn't think anything could make you abandon your work. This is a rare sight."

Julian was unfazed. "Mr. Faith's business is far more important than any contract of mine. How could I stay away?"

Silas's gaze lingered on Jade for a moment. He saw the truth but didn't say it. He stepped back to let them in.

Jade followed Julian inside. She was a bit lost in their banter, so she stayed silent.

As they sat down, Julian stood up again, went to the kitchenette, and poured a glass of orange juice for Jade.

"Thank you," she whispered as she took it.

Silas watched them. Usually a man of cold, unchanging stoicism, he couldn't help but feel a flicker of amusement at Julian's attentiveness.

"Mr. Foster, have you forgotten whose room this is? Playing the host in my suite? Shouldn't I get a glass too?"

Julian didn't look bothered, but Jade felt the sting of the joke. Her juice was still untouched, so she immediately offered it to Silas.

"Mr. Faith, please. Have this."

Before Silas could answer, Julian gently pressed Jade's hand back down.

"He's joking. He doesn't touch anything sweet. It would be a waste on him."

"Oh..."

Jade awkwardly pulled the glass back and took a small sip.

From Julian's tone, it sounded like he and Silas had known each other for a long time.

Silas let out a dry chuckle and dropped the subject.

The room went silent for a few seconds before Jade set her juice down and pulled the recorder from her pocket.

"I followed Amara Hoyt to a lounge. I managed to get inside their room. I found something... major. You should listen to this."

She played the recording. Silas and Julian's expressions turned stone-cold as they listened.

When it finished, Julian looked troubled. Silas's dark eyes were unreadable, his mind already spinning with the implications.

Jade waited for them to speak.

Julian was the first to break the silence.

As she left the hotel, she began planning her next move.

It all came down to Victor.

Jade looked at Julian as they walked to their cars.

"Do you have a photo of Victor?"

Julian stopped beside her.

"What do you want it for? You're not thinking of finding him yourself, are you?"

Jade nodded. "I am."

"No," Julian said without a second thought.

"It's too dangerous. Victor is a professional. You can't handle a man like that."

Jade's gaze was firm. "I have to try. Lyndon and Silas haven't found him, but maybe I can. I'm not letting this chance go."

Julian saw the fire in her eyes and relented.

"Fine. I'll have my people find a photo for you."

He had a dozen ways he could have handled this for her, but he chose to be her ally, not her master.
