From His Ex-Wife to the World's Most Sought-After Restorer (Jade and Hudson) novel Chapter 220

"For real?"

Hudson's brow knit, his voice turning cold. "Given who I am, you really think I can't handle a simple condition like that?"

Fair point. Chloe wasn't about to turn down three million in cold hard cash, so she finally caved.

"Fine, I'll let it go. But only if you guarantee my safety."

Hudson, convinced Amara was incapable of such violence, agreed immediately.

"Not a problem. I'll have someone wire the money to your account right now."

Once the money hit and the guarantee was set, Chloe went to the precinct to 'clarify' her statement. Amara was released that afternoon.

When she walked out, Hudson hadn't arrived yet. She couldn't wait; the second she got her phone back, she called Lyndon.

When he picked up, she was gritting her teeth, her voice dripping with pure, unadulterated hatred and rage.

"I want Jade dead!

"You hear me? I want her dead!"

Lyndon sounded like he had a massive migraine. "What did Jade do to you this time?"

Amara fumed as she told Lyndon everything that had happened.

"That b*tch... she set Chloe and me up on purpose just so we'd fight! Then she brought Hudson there to see me at my absolute worst! Even though Hudson bailed me out, God knows what he thinks of me now.

"If this keeps up, we're never going to reach our goal! How are we supposed to get the Walters to protect us?"

Lyndon was silent for a good ten seconds before speaking. "I've made contact with Victor. I'm meeting him in Habor City. We'll talk about dealing with Jade then."

"You found Victor?"

Amara's voice spiked, then she realized where she was. She covered the receiver and ducked into a nearby alley.

Once in the shadows, she whispered anxiously.

"We've been looking for him forever. Why is he showing up now? Could it be a trap?"

Lyndon was confident. "I've got Victor by the throat. He wouldn't dare pull anything."

As much as Amara wanted Jade gone, she knew what was important.

"Fine, talk to him first. Then kill Jade when you get back."

"I believe you were defending yourself against Chloe."

Amara let out a sigh of relief, but her joy was short-lived. Hudson's voice rang out again.

"But Jade's mother's ashes... you planned that. You destroyed them. I want to know why."

Amara's pupils dilated. Her lips trembled, but not a single word came out.

Hudson didn't rush her; he just waited.

Suddenly, Amara lunged forward and grabbed his hand tight.

"Hudson, why did I do it? Don't you know? You always say I don't know the difference between love and being dependent on you. But I know better than anyone. I love you, Hudson! I wanted us to be together again!"

She tried to hug him again, but he shoved her away.

Hudson was shaking with rage, his chest heaving.

"Amara, did you really think that by trashing her mom's ashes and forcing her to leave, I'd just be with you? Because of what you did, I lost my first child! Do you have any idea how much that hurt? I trusted you, Amara. Doing this... it just burns every bit of trust I had left. I don't even know who you are anymore..."

He took another deep breath. "I'm beyond disappointed. I didn't even want to help you, but I did it for Cortney. She's all Ronald left behind. She needs her mother right now. I just hope you can actually take care of her without scarring her for life."
