Beyond that, Lyndon was weighing Julian's actual feelings for Jade.
Initially, he figured Julian was just chasing a fleeting thrill.
He expected him to toss her aside once the novelty wore off.
But now, Julian had paralyzed all of Habor City just to find her.
The sheer drain on resources was staggering.
If Julian was truly this invested, it was a weakness—one they could potentially exploit.
Seeing Lyndon lost in thought, Victor finally spoke up.
"I checked the folders back at the warehouse. Yours was on top, and it looks like it was definitely messed with. I'm betting Jade photographed the whole thing. What's our move?"
Lyndon ran a hand through his hair, pacing the small room like a caged animal before stopping, his eyes glinting with a dark resolve.
"Jade Merchant has to go. She's become a permanent thorn in our side."
Victor frowned. "Easier said than done. Julian's got her under 24-hour guard. How do we even get close?"
"Don't worry about that." Lyndon picked up his phone, a sinister smile spreading across his face.
"We still have Amara. She's right there next to Hudson Walter. Given how toxic that marriage has become, it won't take much to convince her to use Hudson's hands to finish Jade off."
Inside the hospital.
Julian returned after finishing a cigarette and asked Jade who had saved her.
Jade kept the details vague, claiming it was just a Good Samaritan who dropped her at the hospital and vanished.
Julian looked around the luxury VIP suite and noted the private nurses standing by. He knew whoever saved her was no ordinary passerby, but he couldn't tell if Jade truly didn't know the man's identity or was simply protecting it.
Either way, he wouldn't push her.
Instead, he shifted the topic. "About those core files... how much did you get?"
Jade met his gaze, her voice businesslike. "If I have the files, how much more are you willing to put on the table?"
The transactional tone caught Julian off guard.
He reached into his pocket, his fingers brushing his cigarette pack before he pulled his hand back and rested it on his knees.
"Let me get Silas on the line. We'll talk together."
He dialed Silas Faith and put it on speaker.
Silas spoke first. "Ms. Merchant, I hear you managed to get the files Lyndon stole from the Faiths?"
"I photographed half," Jade said directly. "Victor still has the rest."
