Audrey had no idea what Colin was playing at. She sidled up to him and hissed under her breath. “Are y insane? The bottles you usually drink cost ten times that. Why are you lowering yourself to play along this clown?”

Colin shot her a wicked grin. “Exactly, I’ve never tried anything that cheap. I’m genuinely curious.”

The man took their exchange as proof that his wealth had impressed them. His gaze swept over Audrey and he figured she was also worth a second look. Puffing up with pride, he waved magnanimously. “Well what are you waiting for? Come on over! I’m in a great mood today. I’ll show you how the big spenders it.”

Sebastian remained stone–faced throughout, utterly unwilling to engage with such a buffoon.

But Riley, standing beside him, was growing amused. She tugged at his sleeve, her eyes sparkling with mischief. “Let’s go see. I want to see what kind of fool he makes of himself.”

Sebastian’s gaze dropped to her, dark and unreadable. “He keeps eyeing you. If we go over, I might not b able to stop myself from punching him.”

“Then hold back. Consider it… a test of your self–control.”

Between Riley’s insistence and Colin’s egging, the group ultimately decided to board the other yacht for the spectacle.

The two vessels drew close, and the crew laid down a boarding plank. Just as everyone was getting ready to cross, Audrey, who was walking behind Riley, suddenly let out a small gasp. She stopped dead, her eyes locked on a spot just above Riley’s waist.

Right there, on the smooth skin just above her skirt line, was a suspicious mark, distinctly visible in the daylight.

Audrey’s face flushed crimson. Though bold by nature, she was still a young woman, and the sight of such an intimate mark flustered her.

She hesitated, then caught up with Riley and murmured, “Um… Riley, I know you and Sebastian are married, but in public, maybe you two could be a little more discreet?”

Riley blinked, utterly confused. “We’ve been perfectly restrained. What are you talking about?”

Audrey nearly rolled her eyes. She jerked her chin toward/Riley’s back and said through gritted teeth. “You call that restrained? Take a look at your lower back!”

Riley froze.

She reached back instinctively, but felt nothing unusual. Frowning, she said, “Take a picture with your phone.”

Audrey quickly snapped a photo and handed it over. Riley glanced at the screen, and her face darkened instantly.

As if sensing her fury, he turned around slowly. Catching the daggers in her eyes, he paused, then a knowing gleam crossed his face, and a sly smile tugged at his lips.

The floral–shirt man, once everyone was aboard, sat up straighter in his lounge chair, striking the pose of generous host. He waved dismissively at the girls flanking him. “Alright, you girls, scram. Go play somewhere else. I’ve got distinguished guests here.”

The girls exchanged glances, looking put out, but they obediently filed off the deck.

Satisfied, the man adjusted his garish shirt, hoisted himself up on his beer belly, and flashed what he thought was a suave smile. He extended a hand toward Sebastian. “Name’s Killian Welch. Just out here on vacation, having some fun.”

Sebastian didn’t move an inch. He stood calmly beside Riley, emanating an icy aura.

Killian withdrew his hand awkwardly, then turned his attention to Riley and Audrey, his interest barely concealed.

Clearing his throat, he tried to salvage the moment with a weightier topic. “Actually, the main reason I’m here is that a friend of mine developed this resort. Just opened; he insisted I come check it out and offer some feedback.”
