From His Wife to His Uncle's Wife novel Chapter 357

Eleanor couldn’t help but laugh, though she was a little exasperated. “Come on, Mr. Sidler wouldn’t go that far, would he?”

Yolanda just rolled her eyes. “Who knows? Anything’s possible.”

“Relax, Yolanda. Mr. Sidler’s got a bunch of rowdy friends. No way they’re letting him pick you up without a fight.”

Yolanda shot her a look. “Isn’t the worst one your husband?”

Eleanor fell silent for a second. Now that she thought about it, Yolanda was probably right.

Linden showed up at the Stansel house right on time, Max tagging along as part of the groom’s squad. Everyone else rushed ahead, eager to storm the door, but Max just strolled like he was out for a lazy walk. He was the last to get there.

The bridesmaids refused to open the door, so Linden had to call in his backup.

“Come on, hurry up. Talk to Eleanor. Tell her to let us in.”

Max just snorted. “Why would I do that?”

Linden groaned. “Max, aren’t you supposed to be on my side?”

“I am,” Max said with a smirk, rubbing his fingers together. “But you can’t expect Eleanor to help you for free.”

With no other choice, Linden sent him five thousand. Max clicked his tongue.

“Seriously? That’s all? You really think you can get a bride being this stingy?”

Linden clenched his jaw and sent over fifty thousand instead.

Max finally looked satisfied. “Now we’re talking.”

When the crowd pushed him up to the door, he made a big show of clearing his throat. “Babe, it’s me, your husband. Want to open the door for me?”

He grinned. “By the way, I just got fifty thousand from Linden. I already sent it all to you.”

Everyone stared at him in disbelief. This was someone else’s wedding, and here he was showing off.

Eleanor’s face turned scarlet. There were so many people watching and listening.

“Should I open the door?” she whispered to Yolanda.

Yolanda could barely keep a straight face. “Alright, enough. Come carry me out.”

For years after, whenever Linden thought about his wedding day, the one thing he regretted most was letting Max be part of the party. The memory made him want to bang his head against the wall.

Finally, the door games were over and Eleanor headed to the wedding venue with Max.

“You always have to mess with your friends like that?”

Max just smirked. “When I married you, Linden gave me just as much trouble.”

Eleanor shook her head. This guy could hold a grudge forever. He’d clearly been waiting for his moment to get even.

Because she was pregnant, Eleanor only stayed through the first half of the reception, then headed home early. Feeling sentimental, she sent Yolanda a long, heartfelt message, wishing her nothing but happiness.

“Who are you texting, babe? Is that a love letter?”

Eleanor quickly turned off her phone and tried to hide it. “Don’t be nosy. I was just texting Yolanda.”

Max’s eyes softened, a teasing smile on his lips. “When are you going to send me a message that long?”
