I felt the bad energy the moment I stepped into the house. Everywhere was eerily quiet, and I could feel the tension in the air; in fact, you could cut the tension with a sharp knife.

Fuck. I was sad that I didn’t fulfill my promise to Aunt Laura, but at the end of the day, I wasn’t sad that I kept these motherfuckers waiting

I waltzed into the dining room and saw all of them sitting on the long mahogany dinner table. I found Aunt Laura’s gaze and Olivia, who quickly tapped the seat beside her for me. I went to meet her and sat down beside her.

“Good evening.” I greeted and then looked at Aunt Laura.

“Im sorry that I’m late, Aunt,” I told her, and she smiled.

“It’s fine, darling.”

“Are you mad?” The question came from my grandfather and my guards, who trooped in after I came in and moved forward in defense.

I looked at them and shook my head.

*That is such a straightforward question, grandfather. Is there a reason you asked?” I said as I served myself dinner. “By the way, why is no one eating? I’m starving.” I said.

“First of all, you come in here, almost two hours late to the stipulated time given, and then you can’t apologise to grandpa for coming late, and now you have the nerve to eat?” Summer spoke on his behalf, and I smiled.

“I didn’t know that grandfather has a mouthpiece now. But anyway, I can’t apologise to him, the person who brought me here is my aunt. And I’m sure you know how busy a Queen can be. I had to make sure I was here, out of my busy schedule, for her. And about eating, I think the reasonable question should be, why is no one eating? Was this not supposed to be a dinner?” I asked. Eating a forkful of steak.

“Because we were waiting for you.” Antoine was the one who replied to me this time around. However, he used a calm tone.

“That makes sense, seeing as I’m the Queen. It would be quite disrespectful if you started eating without me, but now that I’m here, you all can dig in.” I said, stretching my fork towards the food.

Olivia didn’t waste time serving herself. “I was so famished,” she said, and I laughed.

“This is the height of disrespect,” Julian said, but I didn’t even pay him any heed as I continued eating.

“Im sure I was brought out here for some other reason apart from this wonderful dinner, but if you brought me out of my bush schedule to come and eat, I won’t be mad because the food is quite tasty, don’t you think, Olivia?” I said, and she moaned in

response.

The eyes of my parents widened at her reaction, but I didn’t give a fuck.

“Dig in,” Grandfather said, and they all sighed before they started eating.

After this, the grandfather was served, and he ate two spoons, or more, and he faced me.

“Oh, that. My husband wasn’t happy, so he carried me out of the restaurant. At least I showed up; you can take it up with your King “I said, eating a piece of lettuce.

“The Queen is an orphan. She doesn’t recognise anybody as her parents. The only family member she has in the register is Laura and Olivia. So, watch the way you speak to her,” he said and stepped back.

“You’re an orphan in the system?” Father asked, and I shrugged.

“Do I have parents?” I asked him.

“I will not condone disrespect for your parents while I am seated here, Eloise,” Grandfather said.

“I don’t have parents, sir. Ask them if they have done anything to show that they are my parents, they don’t care about me, and it only makes sense for me not to care about them too.” I said.

“I don’t care about whatever is going on between all of you; you’re going to divorce your husband and get married to the Alpha of my choosing.”

“That’s quite unfortunate, grandfather. I’m in love with my husband, and even if I weren’t, I would not care about your wishes. I don’t know why you’re taking this up with me. Approach my husband and tell him, if he lets me go, I promise to marry the Alpha of your choosing, but if he doesn’t, you’ll leave me alone.” I told him.

He looked at me for a few seconds.
