15 Your Eyes Are Beautiful
15 Your Eyes Are Beautiful
ELOISE’s POV.
“You know about the Luna Trials, don’t you?” I asked Damon as soon as he picked up the phone.
“Of course, I just signed off on it yesterday. I think it’ll be fun to see a bunch of women that I’ll never choose battle to be my Queen,” he said with a wicked laugh.
“Im joining,” I said flatly.
There was a long silence before he responded. “Where are you?” he asked in a cold voice.
“On my way to the hotel.”
“Gooc, hurry,” he said and hung up.
I wonder what caused the change in mood.
When I reached the hotel, I went straight to his penthouse. I rang the bell, and the door swung open immediately, as if he were waiting by the door for me. I froze the moment the door opened, my breath catching in my throat.
Damon was standing there completely shirtless, his skin was bronze, and his muscles were like carved stone. He looked more powerful, dangerous, and way too handsome.
“Put a shirt on.” I gasped, feeling my face turn red. I tried to fan myself with my hand because the room had suddenly become unbearably hot.
Damon leaned against the doorframe with a smirk on his face. “Why? There’s nothing here you haven’t seen, Miss Doctor.”
I hissed at him and brushed past him into the room. “You’re impossible,” I said and threw a shirt that I found lying around at him.
He closed the door and turned serious, ignoring what I just said. “Why are you joining the trials? You know you don’t have anything to prove to those people, right? Cause I know they are the reason you suddenly want to join. I can give you whatever you want without you risking your life in some silly contest.”
“My family thinks I’m a failure,” I said, looking him in the eyes, at least where I thought his eyes were because he had those shades on, again. “They think because I lived with rogues, I’m weak. I want to show them and the whole pack that they are wrong. Hence, the reason I am going.”
“Fine, if you need anything, I’m here, plus my scouts will be watching.”
“What about the herbs I asked for?” I asked, wanting to change the topic.
“My men will have it by tomorrow. They’ve been out getting it since you told me about them,” he said.
“Good. Hurry up, because you know I only have three days left here. All the participants have to stay in the maiden’s hall, near the
forest.”
“The maiden hall? That place is a dump. I could buy a whole building for you to stay in during the trials.” Damon said with a frown.
I laughed softly. “No, I want to do this the right way, no special treatment. Plus, we have to get your treatment to a certain level before I start taking things from you without feeling weird.”

“That doesn’t matter, though,” he said.
“It matters to me.”
“Okay then,” he said, and we both got into a comfortable silence after that.
I looked at his face, and he seemed to be thinking critically about something.
“You know,” I started, thinking about what I was about to say, it wasn’t too late to shut the hell up. “You don’t have to wear the shades around me. I like your eyes, and I’d like to keep seeing them if you’ll allow me.” I said.
He didn’t say anything, and I saw his jaw tick. I could tell it was a touchy subject for him, so instead of saying anything else, I just
turned around and left.
Three days later, the Luna Trials began.
The event was held at the edge of the great forest. There were no TV cameras, but hundreds of people were present. Wolves from all the nearby packs had traveled here to see who would be by the side of the Lycan King, and some came to support their family members who were participating in the trials. The air was thick with the scent of excitement and competition.
I arrived at the meeting spot at 10:00 AM, as Julian had instructed, but when I got there, everyone was already present.
“Ellie, finally you’re here. We have been waiting forever!” Summer called out in a loud voice, as if she wanted everybody to hear. She was wearing a shimmering silk gown and high heels; I almost laughed out loud. What was this dress? Didn’t she know what she came here to do? She looked like she was going to a ball, not a survival trial.
gritted my teeth. Julian had lied to me about the time. He wanted me to look lazy and disrespectful in front of the crowd.
The people watching and the ladies around me began to whisper.
is that the rogue sister? She’s so late, she has no discipline at all!
Look at her clothes, just a t–shirt and jeans, does she think this is a playground?”
Summer looks much more like a Queen; she’s so patient with that brat.
I ignored them. I wore my simple clothes because I knew what was coming. The other girls were all dressed in expensive lace and jewelry. They all look ridiculous, and I was trying so hard to hold in my laughter.
A stern–looming wolf named Elder Thomas walked forward, facing the crowd. “Welcome to Luna Trials,” he said, and everybody cheered and clapped.
“This is not a beauty pageant, it’s a test of your wolf spirit. Now it’s time to see what the contestants brought with them.”
He turned to us with a stern look and pointed at our suitcases. “Open your suitcase, now.”
I unzipped my small bag, I had a few clothing changes and some basic soaps. The other girls‘ bags were overflowing with items. Summer had three different perfumes, silk robes, and a gold, rounded mirror.
“No luxury items,” the elder stated, and the guards began snatching items.
“My face oils!” one of the girls screamed.
