I watched all of them intently. I didn’t want to throw accusations at anybody because it wouldn’t make any sense, but deep down, I knew Summer had something ti do with this.
“How sure are you about what you’re saying? Even the medical doctor doesn’t know what is wrong.” Antoine said.
“Im sure you were here when I asked him if he knew anything about werewolf medicine. I can also educate you about it if you need it. Normal doctors do not all treat werewolves; they can only treat things like injuries and gunshot wounds. Even at that, there are certain things that a werewolf healer will know to do that a normal medical doctor would not.” I said in one
breath because I was frustrated.
“And how do you know that? When did you become a healer to know things like this?” Summer taunted.
“Thats not your business. Every second is important if you want ti bring grandpa back to life. What has he been eating?” I asked the maid who was standing by the door.
“Good fat, my Queen. Grandpa doesn’t eat anything just like that. He wakes up, and I bring him his herbs. He always makes sure to take the wolfsbane antidote, but he takes the boiled leaves. And after that, he has bacon for breakfast and he can ask for pasta sometimes, too. But he’s mostly eating healthy. He likes fruit salads, salad itself, and he-”
“What did he eat today?” I asked her if I allowed her ti continue talking, she wouldn’t stop.
“Oh, after his wolfsbane herbs, he ate bacon for breakfast, I made fruit salad for lunch, the fruits included apples, strawberries, and grapes. He hasn’t had dinner yet,” she said with a bow, and I nodded. Everything she said seemed normal, if it wasn’t through something he was eating, then it was surely through something he inhaled.
But that’s weird, something he inhaled will affect his lungs, not his liver and kidneys, which means what he had was food and not an in-
“Oh, before I forget, Lady Summer, do you care to tell the Queen what you have been feeding him every morning?” I knew it.
All eyes turned to Summer, and I saw a break in th facade she had on when her name was mentioned.
“How do you know I’ve been feeding him anything?” she asked instead of answering the question.

“Well, he was proud of the fact that you woke up very early and made a certain soup for him. I can’t just remember the soup’s name. He mentioned it, but I can’t remember,” the maid said, and we turned back ti Summer.
“Well, to appease him and show him that I was really sober for everything that has happened over the last few days, I have been waking up early to prepare Moon Root soup for him,” she said, and the maid nodded.
“Yes, that’s the name,” the maid confirmed.
“Oh, really?” I asked.
“What do you mean? I just told you why I’ve been giving it to him?”
“Why are you defensive? I’m just asking a harmless question. Now, what does the Moon Root stew contain?”
“It’s a thick herbal stew made from Moon Root, glowing underground plant that enhances the wolf’s strength, bone broth from wild animals, and silverleaf herbs,” she replied. “We all know grandpa has been feeling weak ever since Ellie’s mate broke his legs and put him in a wheelchair, so I’ve been trying to make him feel better,” she said, and I rolled my eyes. That was Summer for you; she would deflect anytime she saw the opportunity.
“Well, he didn’t pass out from the beating, did he?” I asked with a little smirk playing on my face.
“Eloise, why would you say that?” my mother asked, but I ignored her.
“So I’m sure we all know how dangerous silver leaf is and that we all need to use it in tiny doses. How many points do you put in this soup of yours?” I asked her.
“Well, I use half a pint,” she said instantly as she had practiced it.
Well, the problem was, I didn’t believe her. She may have worked hard to deceive everybody in the room, but she could never deceive me. I could see right through her facade–the entirety of it.
“So what do you know again?” Julian asked.
“Why are you asking me? Where were you, not the one that was doubting if j knew what I was doing just seconds ago?” I asked in a mocking tone.
“Oh, trust me, I still don’t believe that you know what you’re doing, but anyways, have at it,” he said.
“What do you mean, have at it? Do you want her to kill grandpa?” Summer said, tears in her eyes, and they all crowded around her to beg her. I rolled my eyes for the millionth time

since I’ve stepped into this room. The way they hwned over her annoyed the hell out of me.
“You know the new thing that has been brought o Grandpa recently?” Summer asked, and I saw a glint in her eyes. I knew she was about ti do something very stupid.
“Enlighten me, please,” I replied.
“The Mandragora root or whatever thing you gifted him on his birthday. What if that’s what has him in this state?” she asked in a taunting voice that had everybody thinking.
“Are you an idiot?” I asked her without being bothered.
“Eloise, how dare you talk to your sister like that” Mother shouted.
“It was a simple question. The root I brought was verified by the herbalist in the room that day, or have you all forgotten? And it’s not possible to eat it, whatever is wrong with grandpa is something he ate because of the attack on his kidney and liver, if it was through inhalation, his lungs would be gone, and he would already be dead.” I said.
If a pin dropped right now, we would hear it.
“Why don’t you do
