I stared at him expectantly, waiting for him to say something, but he just kept quiet, like he was also waiting for me to react to his
statement.
“Well, go on,” I said in an obvious tone.
“Well, before I came here, I had someone who used to oppose me, but not to my face. So it’s safe to say he’s my enemy. He has been regrouping since I moved the capital city to this pack, and he called me while I travelled to tell me that he’s coming to join me here, expecting me to be fucking elated.” he gripped the edge of the table.
“And this person is a family member. So, they think I don’t know anything. You remember the time you told me that someone was behind my hex? The sickness I have? It might be him. He has a lot of people under his thumb, witches too. So yeah, he’s on his way,” he concluded.
“Im sorry, what? He’s on his way?”
“Yes.”
“As in right now?” I asked wide–eyed.
“Yes, right now.”
“And why are you just telling me now when the problem is coming to our doorstep?” I asked.
“Well, you’ve been avoiding me for days, and I needed us to be on the same page when they get here, which is the reason I demanded and forced this meeting upon you,” he said in a boring tone.
Was I prepared for this meeting? I wasn’t sure. I’ve been so emotionally occupied, trying to figure out how to get myself out of this contract I have with my brothers and the new company I’m trying to build up. I hadn’t even told Damon about it yet.
Should I now?
I shook my head. We had things to do now, so I’ll just tell him later.
“Does he know you’re married?” I asked.
“Well, I’m sure he knows now. The news of our marriage and your coronation spread wide and far, Ma. I’m surprised he hasn’t approached me yet. But I’ve kept my eyes and ears on him, too. He’s planning something big. Which is why I need us to be on the Same page when they show up, okay?” he asked, and I nodded.
“Good”
“What should I do right now?” I asked.
“Now, I need you to go upstairs, let the maids dress you up, and look like the Queen you are, okay?” he said.
“How many hours do I have?” I asked about packing up my things
“Let’s say about thirty minutes,” he said, checking his watch.

I was glaring so hard at him by the time he looked back up that the glare could burn a hole through his head.
“What?” he raised his hand in mock surrender.
“How could you let time be wasted like this?” I asked.

“Well, when they get here, we don’t need to rush out and see them. They’ll have to wait for us because we are superior. So don’t be in a rush, ehh?” he said and stood up.
I was so overwhelmed that I could only nod at him. I watched in a daze as he came to kiss me on the cheek.
“See you soon. Mama. I’ll come knock on your door when it’s time, baby,” he said and whoosh. Just like that, he was gone in a flash.
My stomach turned into jelly at the way he called me baby, and the nickname he called me. I plopped down on the chair with a sigh.
“Fuck my life.”
After ten minutes, I caught my breath and prepared myself to face my husband’s enemies. I stood up and walked out to my bedroom. By the time I got there, clothes were everywhere, and the maids were already in my chambers.
“What’s going on here?” I asked Mary, who stood still as she watched the maids arrange my clothing.
“Oh, your highness. Welcome, the King told us to get you prepared,” she said as she led me to the bed.
“These dresses are new, why? I have hundreds of dresses in the walk–in closet that I have not even touched.” I expressed, and she smiled softly.
“You know your husband, always extra.”
I rolled my eyes at that.
“We have started a bath for you, if you would join us in the bathroom,” she said, and I nodded.
I didn’t have the strength to scrub my body right now, so I was grateful that the maids would do it for me.
“Thank you.” I stripped and walked into the bathroom, ready to be pampered.
If someone were to tell me that I would be comfortable walking naked among people years ago, I would tell them they were joking. But here I was, walking naked among maids to bathe, I smiled slightly at the thought as I settled down in the tub.
An hour later, I was slipping into a very beautiful blue dress. It looked elegant and classy in all ways, and I loved it. Damon had such exquisite taste.
I was being bathed in jewels and adorned in cute and elegant things. They had already styled my hair and applied a few beauty products to my face. I looked lovely and every bit a Queen. While some were dressing me up, some maids were putting on beautiful
heels for me.
