Chapter 288 The Confession

ZARA.

I finally had my bathe and when I’m telling you guys that I scrubbed my body like a crazy woman? I did.

I didn’t know what I was trying to wash off. The touch of Antoine that had stuck with me for the past three days? Or his scent? Wait a second, was that why I didn’t bathe? Because I didn’t want his scent to leave?

That thought only made me scrub harder especially since I was already feeling like a bad person. I should have just told Eloise from the beginning. It’s not like I have much of a choice now, because I’m going to have to tell her at the end of the day.

I’m going to have to let her know how I slept with her evil brother behind her back and how I didn’t tell her about the fact that he was my mate. Oh my goodness, will she ever forgive me?

I started panicking in the room but at the end of the day, I knew that there was nothing that could be done, I’d have to calm down and let the whole thing play out after I tell her.

▸ I looked at myself one more time before I went out. I think I used about an hour, I didn’t recognize my

living room when I walked back in, the girl had already organised everywhere and they even removed the center table, there was a high mat in the middle of the floor with a blanket spread over it.

There were lights everywhere and food, snacks, and drinks laid out on this blanket. I felt tears well up in my eyes because I didn’t understand how I got to know these nice girls. I really didn’t. They were friends turned sisters, they really don’t know what they are doing for me by intervening this way.

“Come here stank ass bitch. Come have a sit and talk to us.” Lex said and everybody laughed.

I bet they will all hate me once I’m done telling them the evil things I’ve done.

I walked over to them and sat down in the space they had laid out. Liv started dishing out the pasta that smelled so nice.

“Wait you guys, I have to tell you something,” I said.

“You’ll tell us while you eat,” Eloise said.

“I’m not sure I can do that without puking.” It’s like that got their attention.

“Does it have anything to do with why you’ve been AWOL for three days?” Eloise asked and I nodded.

“Yes, it very much is and I’m sure you all will hate me when I’m done telling you, so first of all, thank you all for coming to check up on me. I really appreciate the beautiful gesture made by y’all.” I said and sighed. They were all watching expectantly, waiting for what I had to say.

“Before I say this, I just want you to know that it wasn’t an intentional thing to not tell you guys, it was just hard to say,” I said.

“Go on, spill, and don’t panic,” Eloise reassured.

“Can we all focus, please??” Eloise asked and everybody kept quiet. “Zara, go on,” she said and I nodded

I thought of how to word it, I’ve thought of this moment since I met her. Do I start by explaining? Should y just drop the bomb? How would this work out? This could work out in different ways and it was hard not to see it working out with everybody in this group hating me.

I closed my eyes and just decided to drop it.

“Antoine is my mate,” I said at once.

The moment it came out of my mouth, there was still silence, everybody was shocked I guess. When I opened my eyes, they all looked like they were digesting the information.

“What??” Lex said.

“Shit.” Liv said.

“How will this make me hate you? I already knew that you guys were lovers before this, not just mates. You didn’t choose it did you, or oh…are you still in love with him?” she asked me and I looked down in shame.

“I swear, I try not to be. It’s not easy and then it happened on the day they came to the palace. When I went to the restroom, he came to crowd me in there and started talking about how he misses me and that he’s sorry. I didn’t give in then, it was so hard. But after that day, three days or more later I gave in.” I said, breathing shakily.

“I went to his house, and we had sex,” I said.

There was no response to that.

“And then I rejected him,” I said.

“Oh, baby,” Alexis said. And before I knew it, they all came to hug me.

Including Eloise, who is supposed to hate my guts.
