The morning sun felt too bright after the night I’d had. I could still feel the heat of Damon’s voice vibrating in my chest, a low possessive rumble that had kept my wolf pacing restlessly inside my mind all night.
“Don’t you dare touch a single pound on that body,” he had growled, and that made me feel hot all over. My skin still prickled from where I imagined his hands would go, and my heart hammered against my ribs like a trapped bird.
I know he was watching; he made that clear yesterday, even though he didn’t say so with actual words. I knew he was watching. As I stood on the deck of the swaying boat, I could feel the weight of his gaze through the cameras tucked into the corners of the ship. It was a heavy and dark sensation. He was a King–the Lycan King, and even miles away, his presence looked over me.
“Okay! Everyone!” The Elder’s voice broke through my thoughts. “The final round of the show is here. Survival on an uninhabited island! You’ll spend twenty–four hours there, complete missions, and find the hidden treasure. At some point, you’d have to fight each other to leave the island first…” he said, and everyone started murmuring.
“In your wolf forms.” He completed, and the murmuring increased.
I wasn’t surprised because I wasn’t expecting anything less from them. We had done hard challenges, and I knew they wanted to go out with a bang.
A few kilometers away from me, Summer let out a sound that was less of a gasp and more of a whine. She was a high–ranking she- wolf from a wealthy family–my ex–family-, and I was sure she didn’t feel comfortable playing in the dirt. Now I wonder how she’s going to play in the dirt with us in our wolf forms.
I knew she was trained, but I didn’t think she was trained enough to handle certain people.
“What are all these?” Summer whined. “A deserted island? As in, where nobody stays? Is there a proper bathroom? Or hot water? How am I supposed to shift if I can’t even take a shower afterward?”
I fought the urge to roll my eyes. In our world, strength was everything, but Summer had spent her life throwing money at her problems instead of training her wolf. She looked up at the drone, trying and failing to be the victim, because I could see through her fake act. She was so fake. I also knew the pack members from all over the world and country would be losing their minds over
this.
I was intrigued; I actually wanted to see what would come out of Summer. She claimed that she had lessons from the best trainers in our land, and I was eager to see it.
The Elder started handing out survival packs. When he reached me, I felt a spark of excitement. I loved the wild; it was the only place I felt truly free.
They always tell me that I’m a rogue, and I’m about to show them the reason they refer to me as one. I’m not going to lie, I was a bit scared because the fear of the unknown was powerful, but at the same time, this was my turf.
Summer opened the pack and practically shrieked. “Seriously? A lousy knife? A fucking fire starter, and only one bottle of water? Only one? What the fuck are we doing here?” She shouted. “This is an insult to my status.”
“You can decide to drop out of the contest, Miss Lockwood. It’s a very easy task, yoy knew what you were signing up for when you decided to participate in the Luna trials. We are looking for a committed woman who can stand by the pack members, not someone who whines and complains when people need them to be strong.”

“But still, this is so dangerous; we could lose our lives.” Summer realised and shouted.
Dolly sighed; she must be tired of the daily tantrums that Summer threw.

“I’m sure you’ve heard that people died in the previous Luna trials. This is not just for the cameras, Summer. The Luna Trials are a brutal contest, and you decided to apply for it. Stop being a fucking pussy, and this is a survival challenge; it’s about using our instincts. You know, the one we were born with.” She said, and some girls snickered in the crowd.
“I know! You don’t have to lecture me, you idiot!” Summer snapped, her eyes flashing yellow.
I didn’t say a word. I reached into my kit and pulled out a heavy steel multi–tool knife. I felt the weight of it, the cold bite of the metal. Without thinking, I flipped open the metal and twirled it between my fingers with practiced ease. It was a habit from the years I’d spent missing.
