I watched Damon talk to the very pale man. You can just tell that he’s different. He’s so different

He looks too pale. Too white, he stands out because of the colour of his skin, and his white hair. Weird. You’d know he’s not one of us. He’s a vampire and Damon didn’t seem to be spooked by him.

In fact, they were talking quite well, with Damon squinting his eyes once in a while and then nodding at what he said I want to be there so badly.

“I’m fine girls. Totally fine. Let’s not overthink anything and let’s not stray from our goals tonight. Making the Lockwoods regret ever hurting you.” she said and I frowned. She was obviously deflecting.

I wanted to press further but there was something in her eyes that told me not to push further so I respected her wishes. “Okay then. Is everything set?” I asked them.

“Yes. All we need is to go on stage and then, the vane begins.” Zara said.

“Perfect. What time would be suitable to do that? After all, it’s the company’s ball. So we have to follow the timing.”

“Yes, I’m waiting on the last shareholder. Once she enters the room, we can start.” Zara said, tapping on something on her tablet.

“Good,” I said. Rubbing my hands together.

“Don’t panic. Everything will go according to plan.” Zara said and I nodded. “Let me go and check with the engineers to make sure that the sounds are all perfect,” she said.

“Okay, and you look beautiful Zara. You’re always wearing big clothes to hide those curves. Why’s that? You have such a big ass?”

“They are somewhere around in the room getting a drink,” she said and I nodded.

“How are the kids?” I asked.

“They have been doing well, learning more about their skills and using the instruments you provided very well,” she explained.

“That’s good. I’m so sorry that I’ve not been available these days, I promise to do better. Once the ball is over, then we have some free time to bond before our next project.” I said and she nodded.

“Oh, it’s totally fine my Queen. We all understand. You’re doing a big and generous thing for us and we appreciate all you do, the kids said I should say hi too.” Lyra said.

“It’s totally fine. I’ll stop by the house tomorrow. And are you ready to see your previous employers crumble?” I whispered the last part and she nodded, giggling.

And just as Lex finished announcing her, she came to stand right in front of me.

“Hey sis,” she said, her eyes twinkling with some weird amusement.
