Chapter 68 Demon–eye Freak

The darkness in my dreams always felt the same. It smelled like old blood and tasted like salt.

“Look at him,” a woman’s voice said. I knew that voice; it was one I recognised very well. It was my mother. “He’s a freak; no child of mine should have those eyes. He’s a curse on this family.”

I was small, maybe six years old, shivering in the corner of a grand, cold room. I tried to cover my face, but my father grabbed my wrists, forcing me to look up. His face was a mask of pure hatred.

“One eye like a wolf, the other like a demon,” he spat. “You can never be the King. You’re a monster, Damon. You should have never been born.”

“I cannot stand seeing him; everything about him disgusts me. How did I give birth to a monster like this? How?” my mother asked my father, the pain in her voice so evident.

“Dont worry. We will get rid of him as soon as we can. You know we can’t really do anything now because the pack members will ask questions.

“What are you looking at?” my father asked as I stared up into the space.

When I didn’t say anything, I felt a slap land on my cheek.

“I said What are you looking at? Are your fellow monsters here? Is that what you’re looking at? Well, I have an idea on how you can communicate with those monsters,” my father said and started dragging me out of my room.

Oh no. I felt panicked. I knew what he was about to do, and this was the only part I hated.

“Please, Dad. I’ll not do it again.” I cried.

“Who’s your father? I gave birth to no such freak,” he said after slapping me a second time.

“Im sorry, sir,” I cried as he confined, dragging me down the stairs.

My body started hitting the stairs, and my bones breaking made an ugly sound, but I was used to the pain. But I wasn’t used to the

darkness.

“I don’t want to stay in here alone, please, sir.” I cried.

“Well, this is the only place you can communicate with your monsters,” he said, and then tied me up, as usual, to the pole in the basement.

After he was done, he looked at me with so much hatred, turned off the light, and started heading back up to the house.

“No, sir. Please come and take me away from here.” I cried as my demons started showing their faces in the darkness. I let out a loud scream until I passed out because I didn’t want to let the demons come in.

The scene shifted. Now I was at the academy. A great bunch of older boys surrounded me, laughing as they threw stones. “Demon eye Freak. Why don’t you just claw them out, since we don’t have to look at your ugly face?”

I felt the sharp edge of a rock hit my temple. I felt the hot trickle of blood. But more than the physical pain, I felt the crushing

weight of being unwanted. I was the heir to the throne, yet everyone looked at me like I was something they wanted to scrape off their shoe.

Including my parents.

Nobody wanted me.

I woke up with a strange gasp, my lungs burning as if I’d been underwater for hours.

The room was pitch black, but I didn’t need the light to know it wasn’t over. It was just beginning.

A sudden, sharp jab of agony sliced through my skull. It felt like someone had taken two rusted hooks and was trying to pull my eyes out from inside. I groaned, my eyes flying to my face. I began poking at my eyes, my fingers trembling and frantic, trying to stop the pressure that felt like it was going to make my head explode.

“Arghhh!” I let out a guttural scream.

This wasn’t just a headache. The curse was in action again. This happened sometimes, but not all the time and I wonder what triggered it now. It felt like someone was tightening the noose of the hex placed on me. I could feel a significant presence, an oily energy. It was the same one I had every time I had this episode. A dark energy that flowed through my veins, turning my blood into liquid fire.
