ELOISE’s POV.
The mirror in the penthouse suite was huge, framed in gold and lit by soft lights that made everything look expensive. Even though I knew it was expensive. I stood in front of it, staring at the woman who stared back at me.
The champagne dress was even better than I remembered. It was modest and elegant, covering almost everything from my neck to my ankles, but the fabric was like a second skin. It showed off every curve I had; I was thin like the girls in the magazine or like Summer.
I had thick thighs, a slim waist and a large chest that held the dress perfectly. For the first time in my life, I didn't feel like I was “too much or too big.” I felt powerful and beautiful, and I embraced the way I looked.
I was bushbfixing a stray strand of my hair when the doorbell rang, and the sound echoed across the whole penthouse. I took my purse, knowing that Fania must be here.
I walked to the door and opened it for her. Fania stood there, dressed in a sharp suit. When she saw me, her eyes widened, and she actually went still for a second.
“Ma’am,” she whispered, a genuine smile breaking across her face. “You look so stunning and beautiful in this dress.”
“Thank you, Fania,” I said, my heart thudding against my ribs as I appreciated the compliment.
“For real, you look breathtaking,” she said once again, like she was in a trance.
“Thank you, Fania,” I said again with a hearty laugh this time around.
“It's my pleasure, ma'am. The King is waiting for you downstairs.”
“Alright. I'm ready.” I said, and we both walked down to the elevator.
We took the private elevator down to the lobby. My hands were shaking slightly, so I balled them into fists to hide it. When the doors to the private elevator opened, we walked down the empty lobby and outside to the dark sky. The only light came from the street lamps that lined the front of the hotel.
I looked around, and my gaze landed on the King.
The Lycam King was standing by his car, looking at the lights. He was wearing a black suit that looked more expensive than the whole Lockwood estate. Even with his back to me, his presence filled the entire environment. He was broad and tall, and he carried an aura of pure danger. As I walked towards him, he turned, and I noticed that he was wearing those black shades again, hiding his eyes again.
I didn't like the fact that he hid them. I'm sure they were beautiful, even though they would look like a maniac to other people. I could feel his gaze on me the moment he looked at me, regardless of the black shades that covered his eyes.
I stopped walking a few feet away, my breath catching in my throat. He didn't say a word; he just stood there, his head tilting slightly as his eyes raked down my body.
It felt like he was using his eyes to peel off the dress from my body, and I felt bare and naked to him. It felt like his eyes could see my bare body and the darkness in my soul. The silence between us was heavy with a heat that made my skin tingle and gave me goosebumps all over. I wanted to see his eyes.
I wanted to know if he was looking at me with the same hunger I felt just being near him. We stood there, frozen in time and completely oblivious to our surroundings and the people around us. We were completely immersed in each other, at least that's how I felt.
“Sir? The car is ready.”
The voice of his driver broke the spell. I blinked, suddenly realising that I had been staring. The King snapped out of it, too. I completed the walk, and he moved towards me; the scent of expensive cologne and something wild like cedarwood filtered into my nostrils.
