I was in a lot of trouble, and I knew I couldn’t avoid it. I had to face the trouble head–on. It wasn’t like I could run home and hide, and even if I did. I’ll still see Damon, cause we live in the same house and sleep on the same bed. Fuck.

The way he looked at me made my heart beat faster, and I didn’t know if I should be excited ir scared.

But why would I be scared? There was no reason to be scared; we were partners helping each other out, nothing more. But why did that sound more like I’m trying to convince myself of that fact?

My phone vibrated again, and it brought me out of the reverie I was in.

DAMON: Stand up and come to the back, where there are people and where you can see the stage clearly.

I squinted my eyes at the message. Why? That was the first question that came to my mind.

ELOISE: Why?

I decided to ask him. I was enjoying the show, and I couldn’t just leave Lex by herself. She seemed drunk, and it would be dangerous to have her out here without anyone watching her.

DAMON: Are you seriously asking me why? I don’t want to repeat myself, ma.

He said, and I rolled my eyes. I couldn’t leave Lex alone.

ELOISE: Im with my friend, and I can’t leave her alone; we both made plans to make this happen. It would be unfair to leave early. Plus, she’s even drunk, so she needs someone sober to watch after her.

I typed it out in a rush and sent it.

“Who are you texting furiously, Eloise?” Lex’s voice asked over the loud music.

“Nobody, I’m just taking care of wedding things.”

“Come on now, we promised that there would be no wedding talk this night. Let’s enjoy the music as much as we can, okay? It’s Xavier freaking Lenor. Let’s enjoy this, please,” she begged, putting her hands together and pouting like a baby.

“I’ll almost be done,” I told her, and she smiled and went back to screaming her lungs out.

I pulled up my chat with Damon and saw that he had already replied.

DAMON: Her mate is here. He’ll come down to get her. Get your ass into the crowd. Now, ma.

The endearment he called me made me feel some type of way this night, and I had already gotten used to it, maybe because I was drunk. I was about to type that I would move once Sebastian got here, but before I could get to doing it, I felt another scent engulf me, and I looked up to see Sebastian.

And he didn’t look happy, and Sebastian was always happy. Lex must be in some kind of trouble,

“Hey. She’s drunk. I’ll get going now.” I said, and he nodded.

I sighed and turned back to start heading to where Damon said. I don’t know what he wanted to talk about, but I hoped we could get this over with quickly.

Once I was in a place where I could see the stage directly and also in the middle of people who didn’t seem to care about me, i texted him.

ELOISE: I found a spot.

I wrote simply, and what felt like a second later, I felt his presence before I even saw him, and he was at my back. Before I could face him to ask what’s up or otherwise, he had his arms around me from the back and sniffed my neck. He stayed like that for a while, and when he came up, I thought I heard something that sounded like a growl.

But I couldn’t tell.

“Why do you smell like a man?” he asked, and I frowned.

A man? I was lost for a second before I remembered the whine situation with Xavier earlier.

Should I tell him? I totally should, it’s not like he can do anything to hurt me. Plus, as I said, I could do whatever the hell I wanted.

“I got into a situation earlier, and I had to help someone,” I told him.

“Who?” he growled.

“Xavier,” I said.

“No, but it’s stressful calling his full name,” I replied, trying to keep the shakiness out of my voice.

“Oh, really? Now, what situation did you get into with him?”

“It’s a long story.”

“Ive got all the time in the world, ma.”

“Plus, it’s not even your business. I can do whatever I want.” I said, trying to sound steady.

“Oh yeah? Have you forgotten the contract you signed? There is no relationship with any other gender. Apart from me and you. So I’d like to repeat for the last time, what situation?” he asked me, and I swore under my breath.
