“Where is the warehouse?” I demanded.
The girl pointed a trembling hand through the windshield toward a looming, rusted structure about half a mile down the road. “Th -There…please the a–antidote. I told you everything I know!”
I pulled a small vial from my pocket and let a plain white pill drop into my hand. It was just a simple sedative, but she didn’t have to know.
“I’ll give you the relief you want,” I said, “but first, you’re going to help me finish this first, because you started it.”
“I’ll do anything, please,” she screamed in pain.
I’m not going to lie, I felt some type of way watching a small girl like this wail in pain, but there was nothing I could do about it. She chose the way she wanted to go. But it still didn’t feel normal. I’d have to talk to Damon later. Children should be in school, not being assassins in the street.

“Now, you’re going to text the person who hired you. Tell them the job is done and invite them to come and see the prize.” I told her, but she shook her head.
“It doesn’t work that way,” she said, more tears rolling down her face.
“Enlighten me, his does it work?” I asked her.
“After I had used the wolfsbane on you, I was supposed to go to the side of the warehouse and set off a big fire that would notify the people inside and the people who needed to come,” she explained.
“So, you’re not supposed to text?” I asked.
“It’s the number I have that I’ll text. But that’s the way they said I should notify them,” she said.
“Okay, here is what is going to happen. You’ll text them first, and I’ll leave you here to go and light the fire, then come back.”
“Please give me the antidote,” she cried.
“No, I’m going to get this done first. Go ahead and text your employer.” I told her.
The girl’s finger trembled as I gave her back the phone. Under my watchful gaze, she recorded a short video. I slumped against the car seat with my eyes closed. Making it look like she actually got me, so whoever employed her would believe it. I seemed perfectly helpless, in the video, exactly the way they wanted me to be.
The plan was ill wait for the person to pull so I could be totally sure of who it was.
“Send it,” I commanded
I watched her type the message. “Target is down. Taken to the warehouse as planned, she’s out cold. Come see for yourself.”
I waited until the number replied. I waited a full minute for the girl to cry out for the antidote.
Then the phone buzzed, and I leaned over to see the screen.

“Great, I’m on my way. Go and light the fire immediately so that the men can take her in,” the text said.

Everything about the text’s style looked familiar, but I didn’t want to believe it was the person I was thinking of. I didn’t want to think she was that cruel.
The fish had taken the bait, and it was time to set everything up,
“Eat,” I said, handing the girl the white pill. She snatched it and swallowed it instantly, even though I told her to eat it. It would work either way. I watched her body slump as the sedative took hold. She won’t be waking up for a few hours.
I’ll take her back to the palace with me. I didn’t know what I would do with her yet. But I’ll figure it out later.
I got out of the car, I closed the door as silently as I could, ignoring the busted tyre; I didn’t need the car anymore. I looked at the warehouse and walked toward it. There was already a fire stand waiting there; all I had to do was light it up and run back, and that was precisely what I did.
I looked at my watch, and I still had time.
“Plenty of time to set up the stage,” I whispered to myself as I started doing things that would not make anybody notice that I was here
This person thought they were smart, but I was smarter. When I was done, I entered the car slowly and waited.
ed to kill
I waited for the person who wished to kill me; they wouldn’t know I was out here watching, and the thought excited me.
Exactly twenty minutes later, a car pulled up, and I watched as a leg stepped out. She was wearing heels, and when she came out fully. I couldn’t help the smile that broke out on my face.
This would be so much fun. I thought, as I watched them go in, that after that I’d get down from the car again, carry the girl from the back seat, and start walking towards the roadside. Hopefully, I see a cab before my hand goes numb.
