After shutting down that setup and making a name for myself in the Computer Science department, things on campus got a lot easier.

People stopped looking at me like I didn’t belong. Some of them even tried to invite me to parties.

I declined every single one. I didn’t have time for that.

Spring break came up, and I took another job under my Mandy identity. Thirty million.

The client was Reginald Cruz. I had saved him once before, and when his condition got worse, he managed to track me down and asked me to come to Stonecrest Pack.

The estate was massive, exactly what you would expect from a toptier pack family.

The house manager led me into a formal sitting room on the first floor. Several middleaged men and women were already there, talking among themselves.

Lyra picked up on it immediately.

They were all purebloods. Highranking. Direct family.

That explained the atmosphere.

Alpha, the doctor is here, the manager said respectfully, gesturing toward me. This is Miss Lane.

He turned to me. This is Preston Cruz, Alpha of Stonecrest Pack, and the eldest son of the patient.

Everyone in the room turned my way at once, and I didn’t need anyone to say a word to understand what they were thinking, it was all right there on their faces, the doubt, the quiet contempt, and that unmistakable edge of disappointment.

Preston glanced at me, frowning slightly, but didn’t question it. He simply waved a hand. Go ahead.

The manager led me upstairs.

Reginald lay on the bed, his presence faint, his breathing weak. I set my case down and

opened it, taking out the serum and syringe.

No rush.

I checked his condition first, eyes, pulse, energy flow.

The others followed and stood nearby, watching closely.

I ignored them. I inserted the needle into his vein and began injecting the first serum.

Almost immediately, the reactions started.

Something’s wrong!a woman said sharply. His presence is getting weaker!

I feel it too,a man added.

The room erupted.

Preston, this is the doctor you brought?Marcus snapped. She’s killing him!

The teenage boy beside him rushed forward, reaching for me. Stop! What are you doing?!

I didn’t turn around. I finished the injection and pulled the needle out.

Then I lifted my gaze.

Lyra’s power focused through my eyes. The boy froze midmotion. His arm was still outstretched, but he couldn’t move at all. Panic flooded his face.

Why can’t I move?he said, his voice shaking. What did you do to me?!

Be quiet,” I said coldly, glancing at him. Say one more word, and you won’t be able to speak again.

That was enough. He shut his mouth immediately.

Once he stopped struggling, I released him and picked up the second vial. As the serum entered Reginald’s body, the change became clear.

His breathing steadied.

His chest rose and fell more evenly. Color returned to his lips.

Preston’s expression shifted, relief breaking through as he gave me a firm nod. Right as I pulled the needle out, Reginald’s fingers twitched.
