“Please, Nolan. Eli, help Nira,” I cried, my voice breaking. “If the engagement really gets canceled, what is she supposed to do?”
“Canceled is good,” Eli laughed. “She’ll be the biggest joke in the entire pack alliance. And once she’s dumped by Mr. Howell, no other man will ever want her as a mate.”
“Serves her right,” Nolan added, laughing with him.
Jenna gently wrapped her arm around my shoulders, guiding me out. “Come on, sweetheart. Let’s go see that surprise I promised you.”
Hearing that helped calm me down. Nira could never compare to me.
I carried the bloodline of ancient nobility. After my real family was destroyed in a tragic accident, the Sorens took me in as their adopted daughter and raised me like royalty.
But Nira? That pathetic excuse of a girl didn’t even have a wolf anymore. She was nothing but an embarrassment to this family.
I swore, she was going to pay. And it wasn’t going to be pretty.
Nira’s POV:
With Jett by my side, getting into the Howell estate was no problem at all.
But Kade hadn’t stayed in the main house. He’d moved into a secluded part of the estate instead.
Jett stepped forward and knocked on the door gently. “Mr. Howell, Miss Soren has arrived.”
“Come in,” Kade’s deep, commanding voice came from inside the room, smooth and magnetic.
When I walked in, I saw him sitting in a wheelchair, his back to me, staring out the window.
He slowly turned the chair around and looked at me.
I didn’t flinch. I walked right up to him, reached out, and tilted his chin up with my fingers, narrowing my eyes as I studied his face.
He clearly hadn’t expected me to be that bold. A flicker of surprise crossed his eyes, but he quickly masked it with his usual calm, unreadable expression. He let me do what I wanted, not resisting at all.
Jett, on the other hand, looked like he was about to have a heart attack. His eyes went wide with

I ignored him completely and kept my eyes on Kade.
