As soon as I said it, Jett shut his eyes like he couldn’t bear to watch.

Kade had already stood up from the wheelchair. Without a word, he calmly began unbuttoning his shirt, moving with sharp precision and zero hesitation.

Once he dropped his pants, his hand went to his underwear.

I blinked, watching his movements. My tone stayed neutral. “Leave the underwear on.”

I figured I was being generous, sparing the future Alpha King a little dignity in front of his Beta.

At my words, he paused, nodded slightly, and stopped undressing. Leaving only the basics on, he lay down on the bed, waiting quietly for the treatment to begin.

When I turned back around, I was greeted by the sight of his nearly naked body, stretched across the bed.

Kade’s back was pure muscle, sculpted and defined, every line crisp and strong. His waist tapered in sharply, yet there was still power coiled beneath the surface. Even with fabric covering him, his backside had that perfect shape that made it impossible to ignore. His long legs were lean, powerful, and relaxed, adding a casual confidence to the whole scene.

I froze for half a second. If any of those women who fawned over him ever saw this, they’d probably faint on the spot.

I swallowed without meaning to, then forced the thought from my mind. Refocused, I walked to the side of the bed and set the cleaned needles down.

I leaned in slightly, fingertips pressing gently on his back, testing pressure points as I worked my way down his spine.

“You’ve been carrying toxins in your system for too long,” I said softly. “Your circulation’s been blocked. I’m going to clear it. But the first session will hurt.”

Kade’s voice came low and steady. “Do it. I can take it. Compared to what I’ve been through every night, this is nothing.”

I snapped into focus. With Lyra’s power guiding me, I channeled my energy and started the acupuncture.

As the needles pierced his skin, his muscles tightened slightly. What he was enduring would’ve been agony for any regular Alpha, but he didn’t make a sound.

He was strong. That was something I respected.

I kept going, methodical and steady, placing needle after needle into precise points. Within minutes, his entire back was covered in shining needles.

When I looked up. I noticed Jett still standing off to the side, completely frozen.

His fists were clenched tight, wolf eyes locked on my every move, as if he was ready to shift and attack if I did anything wrong.

I gave him a small smile, said nothing, and turned back to my work, my movements becoming even more careful.

I started adjusting the depth and angle of the needles, gently twisting and pressing, watching Kade’s reactions closely to make sure each one had maximum effect.

Time passed slowly, the air in the room thick with tension.

Finally, I finished the first round of treatment. I let out a long breath, then carefully removed each needle, one by one, slow and steady to minimize discomfort.

“All done. You should rest now,” I said as I packed up the tools. “I’ll go prepare a formula for a medicinal bath. It’ll help with circulation and flushing out toxins.”

Kade sat up slowly, rolling his shoulders to ease the stiffness. He looked at me and said, “Thank you, Miss Soren. You worked hard today.”

I shook my head and turned to leave, heading to write out the prescription.

As Nira walked away, I kept my eyes on her. Her steps were a little unsteady. She looked exhausted.

Typical. No wolf, no stamina. Physically, she was just a fragile girl.

But her medical skills… they were something else. If she could really heal me, I’d make sure she was well protected.
