Kade’s POV

I kicked the door open and searched the room for Nira, but my eyes landed on Damian first. He was half kneeling on the floor, blood dripping from his temple and staining the collar of his white shirt

Odin, my wolf, instantly warned me that Damian had been heavily drugged. There was no other way a wolf of his rank could look this pathetic. He was gripping a shard of broken glass so tightly his palm was a bloody mess, using the sheer pain to cling to his last shred of sanity.

When he saw me burst in, he forced his head up, his voice incredibly hoarse. Bathroom

I knew exactly what he meant. Striding past him, I rushed to the bathroom and pounded on the door. Nira!

No answer. Only a faint, pained whimper came from inside.

I took a step back, raised my leg, and slammed my foot into the lock.

The door burst open with a loud bang.

Nira was curled up in the corner of the bathroom. Her dress was disheveled, and her pale skin flushed with an unnatural, feverish red. She was biting her lip so hard it bled, clearly using the pain to stay conscious. Hearing the noise, she shrank back instinctively, her voice trembling. Stay away

The sight of her clutched at my heart, making it hard to breathe.

I rushed forward, but as soon as I got close, Nira lunged at me, brandishing a paring knife.

Get away from me!she screamed. Her voice was raspy, and her eyes were bloodshot; she looked like a cornered animal on the verge of a total breakdown.

Completely unguarded around her, I didn’t dodge in time. The blade grazed my temple, leaving a sharp sting and a line of blood. Odin roared in fury inside my mind, but I forced him down.

Don’t come near meNira lashed out blindly with the knife, terrified of letting anyone close.

Then I noticed her leg, which was bleeding heavily from all her thrashing. Panic and heartache flared withime. Disregarding the cut on my face, I lunged forward and grabbed the blade barehanded.

Nira! Snap out of it!I barked. The sharp edge sliced deep into my palm, our mingled blood dripping down our hands. It’s me, Kade!

I tried to get through to her, but she was entirely lost to the frenzy.

With no other choice, I threw my arms around her to pin her down. She thrashed like a wounded beast, driving her knee straight into my abdomen. I grunted from the impact but didn’t budge, only tightening my grip around her.

Nira didn’t seem to hear me. She kept fighting wildly, and since she no longer had the knife, she used her fingernails, tearing bloody gouges into my arms.

Let me golet me goshe sobbed, her eyes unfocused. The drug had completely taken over.

*I’m Sorry.I whispered against her ear, before striking the back of her neck with a precise chop.

Her body went limp. The madness faded from fier eyes, and she collapsed into my arms,

Scooping Nira up into a bridal carry, I walked out of the bathroom just as paramedics were loading Damian onto a stretcher. Though barely conscious, he fought to keep his eyes open, searching for Nira. Only after assuring himself that she was cafe did he finally pass out.

Seeing how much he cared for her only made my chest feel heavier.

Glancing down at the girl in my arms, I forced the thoughts away and looked at Jett, my voice cold: Clean this up,”

My gaze swept over to Olivia, who was standing outside the door, looking pale. No one leaves, I added.

Olivia had been running wild for too long, relying entirely on her family’s status. There was no doubt in my mind that she was

behind this.

Without another word, I carried Nira out and strode away.

After emergency treatment, Nira was transferred back to her hospital room.

I stayed by her side, sitting right next to the bed and gently cupping her slender wrist to protect the IV line. Moonlight filtered through the gaps in the curtains, casting soft, dappled shadows across her pale face. She looked so beautiful.

In the middle of the night, she suddenly began to thrash around wildly. I immediately grabbed her hand, terrified she would dislodge the needle and hurt herself.

Nodon’t lock me awayNira whimpered in her sleep, the IV tube shaking violently. Let me outpleaseHer voice broke with a ragged sob, clearly trapped in a nightmare about her time in prison.

I had seen her like this once before.

Those damn Sorens. They were the ones who threw her in prison all those years ago. If they hadn’t already gotten what they deserved, I would have let Odin rip them to pieces myself.

Reining in my fury, I leaned over to pull Nira into my arms, gently rubbing her trembling back with my other hand. It’s okay. I’m right here,I whispered over and over, keeping my voice soft and soothing.

Gradually, she began to calm down.
