Chapter 290 Return to the Soren Estate
The following morning, a bombshell headline surged to the top of every major platform.
NiraAgreesToReturnToTheSoren Estate AfterPublic Pressure
The comments section erupted immediately.
“See? Public pressure works.”
“So much for the Miracle Healer.”
“The Soren family is finally reunited.”
While the internet celebrated, Janice sat in the Soren estate wearing a satisfied smile.
“Dad, I told you this would work.”
Damon narrowed his eyes.
“Don’t celebrate too early. That girl isn’t easy to deal with.”
Before anyone could say more, the study door flew open.
Jenna stormed inside, her face completely drained of color.
“Have you
here?”
all lost your minds?” she demanded. “Why would you bring that monster back
Damon frowned impatiently.
“Stop overreacting. She’s the Miracle Healer now, and she’s connected to Kade Howell, the future Alpha King. If she comes back, this family has a chance again.”
Jenna immediately turned toward Aven.
“Aven, help me talk some sense into your father.”
Just as he was about to speak, Janice slipped her arm around his and pressed herself against him.
“Aven agrees with us, don’t you?”
Looking into Janice’s eyes, Aven slowly nodded.

“…She’s right.”
“Have you forgotten what she did to us last time?” Jenna’s voice shook as she gripped her clothing tightly. “She’s saved countless people and built connections with some of the most powerful figures in Veralle. Now she has the Howell family backing her. You’re playing with fire.”
Janice rolled her eyes dismissively.
“Mom, you’re worrying too much. Public opinion is on our side now. What can she do?”
“You don’t understand!”
Jenna suddenly became agitated.
“That girl is nothing like you think she is. Last time-”
As though a terrible memory surfaced in her mind, she abruptly stopped talking.
Aven cut her off impatiently.
“Mom, you’re just scared. Besides, we have someone important supporting us this time. She won’t be able to do anything.”
Jenna staggered backward.
The murderous confidence that had once filled her wolf eyes was gone.
Only fear remained.
“You’re all going to regret this…”
She turned to leave, but Damon immediately grabbed her arm.
“If you say anything you shouldn’t…”
His voice dropped dangerously low as his wolf eyes flashed with warning.
“Don’t expect me to show mercy just because you’re my wife.”
Jenna shuddered.
Her gaze swept across the three people in the room before she finally collapsed into a chair.
“It’s over…” she muttered. “We’re finished… all of us…”

Nira’s POV:
Standing outside the Soren estate, I looked up at the familiar property and felt a complicated wave of emotions.
After the family’s downfall, Damon had already lost his Alpha position. The heavily guarded entrance I remembered from years ago now stood completely empty.
The front doors slowly opened, and Damon hurried outside wearing an exaggerated smile.
“Nira, you’re finally back!”
He spread his arms as though expecting a warm reunion.
I stepped aside before he could touch me.
“You’ve all worked so hard to get me here,” I said with a cold smile as my gaze swept across the family gathered behind him. “I figured I should come see what all the excitement was about.”
Janice acted as though she hadn’t noticed my hostility at all. She immediately linked her arm through mine and smiled brightly.
“Nira, we’ve missed you so much.”
The sugary sweetness in her voice made my skin crawl.
Aven stood nearby watching me with a complicated expression.
“…It’s good that you’re back.”
In the corner, Jenna was coughing nonstop.
Her face was as pale as paper, and every time our eyes met, she gagged reflexively, making an awful choking sound in her throat.
I knew exactly why.
The memory of being forced to swallow those live insects had clearly left a lasting impression.
Good.
At least now she knew enough to stay away from me.
“Jenna, are you okay?”

I deliberately stepped closer, putting on a concerned expression.
“N–Nothing’s wrong.”

She stumbled backward in panic and bumped into a display stand. Another violent coughing
fit bent her over, and when it finally passed, she spat up phlegm streaked with blood.
One glance was enough.
Her health was deteriorating rapidly.
Lyra had already noticed something else the moment we arrived.
Jenna’s wolf spirit presence had become so faint it was barely detectable.
Damon shot her an irritated look.
“It’s just an old health problem. Ignore her. Come on, Nira. Let’s go inside. Your room has already been prepared.”
I followed them into the living room, noticing that Jenna remained at the very back the entire time, keeping as much distance from me as possible.
When I glanced over my shoulder, I caught the expression on her face.
It was pure terror.
The kind of fear that settled deep into someone’s bones.
Thinking back on everything she had done to me over the years and comparing it to the frightened woman standing before me now, I couldn’t help letting out a quiet laugh.
“Nira, I had coffee made with your favorite roast.”
Janice eagerly handed me a cup.
I accepted it, then immediately placed it on the coffee table without taking a sip.
“Let’s skip the act.”
I looked directly at them.
“There aren’t any reporters here, and there aren’t any cameras either.”
The smile vanished from my face.

“So tell me what you really want.”
The atmosphere in the room froze instantly.
Damon’s smile stiffened.
Janice looked visibly nervous. “Nira, sweetheart, why would you say that…”
