Fury Unleashed: The Awakening Alpha Nira (by Chloe Ramos) novel Chapter 298

Chapter 298 Escape by Sea

Nira’s POV:

I tossed the pill into my mouth and swallowed it dry, while everyone around me drew in sharp, collective breath.

The drug hit my system almost instantly. Within seconds, my limbs turned to lead. My le gave out, and I had to fight just to remain vertical.

Janice didn’t waste a moment. She shoved Jenna aside and clamped a vicelike grip on my

arm.

Get the car door opennow!she barked.

The soldiers had no choice but to scramble and clear a path.

Janice hauled me into the idling SUV, slammed her foot on the accelerator, and tore out of the Soren estate without looking back.

She made a beeline for the private marina at the edge of the Blazeborn Pack’s territory- exactly where I’d suspected she’d have an escape route staged.

Slumped in the passenger seat, playing the part of the invalid, I had to admit; whatever sedative Janice had forced on me was potent. Even with my high tolerance, my body felt unnaturally heavy.

When we reached the docks, she dragged me out of the vehicle and onto a waiting speedboat.

The moment we stepped aboard, Kade and Noah burst onto the scene with a full tactical unit of highranking enforcers hot on their heels.

Janice stood on the deck, one hand throttling my neck, the other brandishing that blue vial like a trophy.

Under the harsh glare of the moon, the scars marring her face looked even more grotesque.

Don’t any of you come closer!she shrieked, letting out a wild, unhinged laugh. Or I’ll force her to chug this right here, right now!

Kade’s eyes burned with a lethal, feral rage. Janice! If you hurt a hair on her head, I swear I will make your existence a living hell!

Ooh, Mr. Howell, you’re terrifying!she mocked, before suddenly yanking my head back by

my hair. I’m touching her. What are you gonna do about it?

I let out a pained groan, my face draining of color as I looked up at Kade. I gave him a subtle, barely perceptible shake of my heada silent warning not to do anything reckless.

Look at you, all worried,Janice cackled, deliberately raking a sharp fingernail across my cheek. A thin line of blood welled up instantly. “Your precious little mate is in my hands now.

This pathetic thing doesn’t even have a wolf spirit. Even if I don’t use the poison, she won’t last an hour with me anyway.”

She was clearly trying to provoke Kadelikely setting some kind of trap.

The more she taunted him, the more pained and agitated he looked. I could feel my own anxiety spiking in response.

Thankfully, Noah kept a cool head. He quickly pulled Kade back, speaking in a low, steady cadence. Janice, state your demands.”

Janice shot a glance at me and screamed, Let me leave! Once I’m in the clear, I’ll release her!

Let her pass,Noah commanded immediately, raising a hand to signal the warriors to stand down.

Kade whipped his head around. No!

Stand down,Noah replied firmly, his Alpha authority bleeding into his tone. Mr. Howell, you aren’t the Alpha King yet. When it comes to tactical security, my command overrides yours. As he spoke, he shot me a meaningful look.

I caught his drift instantly and gave him a subtle nod in return.

Janice stared for a beat, then erupted into manic laughter. Smart move!

She dragged me roughly back to the helm and gunned the engine with one hand.

Kade’s POV:

Nira!

That lunatic Janice had actually taken her.

And Nira didn’t even have her guardian spirit to protect her.

Every instinct in my body screamed at me to charge forward and drag her back to safety, but Noah held me in an iron grip.

Why did you let them go?I grabbed Noah by the collar, seething.

Noah kept his voice low, meant only for my ears. It’s Nira’s plan. The head of the overseas syndicate hasn’t been caught yetit’s likely a mutated werewolf, and it’s tied directly to her real identity. She’s letting herself be taken on purpose to trace them back to their base.

I understood the logic, but I couldn’t stomach the thought of her walking into the lion’s den.

It’s too risky. Get me a boatI’m going after them,I snarled.

You have to trust her,Noah said, his wolf eyes flaring with intensity. He gripped my shoulder firmly, refusing to yield. This was her call.

His sharp tone cut through the haze of my panic.

I had been blinded by my fear.

He was right. I needed to trust Nira.

Every time she had faced danger before, she had found a way to turn the tables.

This time would be no different.

Nira’s POV:

After shaking off Kade and the others, Janice steered the speedboat into the open water, cackling like a madwoman. Never saw this coming, did you, Nira? In the end, I win!

I remained silent, letting her gloat.

The boat cut across the dark, churning waves. Janice steered with one hand while frantically dialing a satellite phone with the other.

The call finally connected, but a cold, detached male voice answered. Your plan failed. The boss has already cut you loose.

Wait!Janice screamed, her voice bordering on hysterical. I have Nira! The Miracle Healer- Nira!
