Fury Unleashed: The Awakening Alpha Nira (by Chloe Ramos) novel Chapter 304

Chapter 304 The Operating Room Brawl

Nira’s POV:

But the woman noticed too. Her eyes narrowed behind her mask, and her fingers tightened around the back of my neck. She pressed a drugsoaked cloth hard over my mouth and nose, and sharp chemical fumes flooded my lungs at once.

In that desperate instant, I had no choice but to risk exposing my true power and let Lyra take control.

Lyra!

Lyra!

I called out twice, yet Lyra did not answer at all.

It was then I understood: the inhaled drug severed my mental link to my wolf spirit.

If my shadow guards had not told me you killed my men using your wolf spirit, I would never have known you hid one all this time, she hissed coldly against my ear, her tone dripping with

scorn.

A fierce hatred welled up inside me.

Only witches made this strain of blocking gas. This woman had allied herself with them.

I dug my nails deep into her wrist, leaving five bleeding gouges on her pale skin. I strained to look toward the sea. Through swirling mist, I made out Kade’s tall frame standing on the boat’s bow.

Ka-My broken cry was smothered by the cloth, and my vision began to swim.

Someone came to save you?she whispered cruelly. Too bad. I will not let you be rescued.

With that, she dragged me two steps backward, hiding my body fully within the cliff’s shadow.

ThirdPerson POV:

The angle was perfect. From the water below, onlookers could see only jagged rock, not the two figures atop the cliff.

A thousand feet out at sea, Kade’s heart lurched sharply. He raised his nightvision binocular and scanned the shoreline, but found nothing.

A gust of wind swept over the cliff and lifted Nira’s hair. At the same moment, sunlight reflecting off the waves flared into his binoculars, and he turned his head away instinctively.

That onesecond lapse kept him from spotting Nira.

Nira’s POV:

My fingers went limp. Right before I lost consciousness, the last sight I saw was Kade yanking open his collar in frustration and slamming his fist into the boat railing.

Hold off anyone who comes, the woman ordered her men.

Her subordinates dragged me away roughly and locked me up once again.

I woke with a splitting headache. The sharp smell of chemical agents mixed with thick blood stench filled my nose. I coughed violently, stirring the icy green liquid surrounding me. I realized I lay submerged in a large bathtub, inside a room fitted out as an operating theater.

Each breath tasted of metallic blood.

Beneath harsh white surgical lights, the masked woman hummed offkey while wiping down a scalpel.

Awake? She leaned over the tub, brushing her fingertips across my face. Your mother used this face to seduce Killian years ago.”

She let out an unhinged laugh. But soon I will have the same face. Then Killian will surely fall

for me.”

She stripped naked and climbed into a second identical bathtub across the room, filled with the same icy green fluid. Horrified, I watched her peel off her own facial skin while submerged in the liquid.

I thrashed wildly in the green fluid, my handcuffs clanging against the tub edge.

I watched helplessly as she stood from the second tub. Her damp skin bore an unnatural pale greenwhite hue, like a newly shed snake.

Do not fear. I work fast. You will feel nothing, she said, lifting her scalpel. The blade glinted coldly under the bright lights.

Just as the blade neared my skin, a dark figure lunged from behind.

A loud crash rang out. The woman stumbled backward, and the scalpel clattered into the bathtub.

The figure moved blindingly fast, tossing the woman aside. It dropped onto all fours, its rotting fingers gripping the tub rim. Most of its facial skin had eroded away, leaving raw exposed flesh.

Its damaged vocal cords produced a grating sound, like a rusted saw scraping wood. This faceis minemine.”
