Chapter 309 Meeting Oscar Fairfax
Nira’s POV:
“Oscar, it’s Kade,” I heard him say into the phone, his voice calm but firm. “I’m in your territory now, over in Creekshade. Was hoping we could catch up.”
A deep, familiar chuckle came through the speaker. “Kade? Never thought I’d get a call from

you.
About thirty minutes later, a tall, broad–shouldered man walked into the café. He moved with the easy confidence of a high–ranking wolf, and the scent of power rolled off him.
Kade stood up to greet him–an old friend from some elite prep academy for pack heirs, Oscar Fairfax, the future Alpha of Creekshade.
“Well, I’ll be damned,” Oscar grinned, his eyes landing on me. “Is this really the same Kade who swore off dating back in school? When did you finally decide to join the rest of us?”
Kade shot him a dry look, then slid an arm around my shoulders. “This is Nira. My chosen mate.”
Oscar’s hands went up in mock surrender. “Okay, now I’ve seen everything. The man of stone actually has a heart.”
I met Oscar’s appraising stare with a small smile. “Nice to meet you, Mr. Fairfax.”
“Please, call me Oscar,” he said, dropping into a chair like we were all old buddies. “So, what’s going on? You didn’t just come for the coffee.”
Kade didn’t waste time. “We need information on the Hudson family–the ones who moved from Veralle to Meridia years back.”
Oscar’s relaxed expression tightened. “The Hudsons? You mean the ones who used to run Nocturne Pack back home?” His eyes flicked around the room before he leaned in. “Did you cross them?”
“Not like that,” Kade replied, tapping the table lightly. “We’re trying to reach Natalie Hudson.” Oscar glanced between the two of us, suspicion clear in his gaze. “Why Natalie?”
He lowered his voice. “She’s not exactly accessible these days. Word is she’s in deep trouble.” A cold knot tightened in my stomach. My fingers clamped around my coffee cup until they

ached. “What kind of trouble?”
Oscar studied me for a second, then seemed to decide something. “Natalie’s a big deal. Wa away from being Alpha heir, took over the family business in her thirties, turned Hudson Treasure into a global brand.”
He took a slow sip. “But the company took a major hit recently. A batch of antiques they acquired last month turned out to be forgeries. Now there’s talk of artifact smuggling, and INTERPOL’s involved.”
He leaned even closer, voice barely above a whisper. “Natalie flew to Ceiro Pack territory to deal with it personally. And then… she disappeared. Her husband Killian flew out that same night to find her. Now both of them are off the grid. The board’s in chaos–company’s basically leaderless.”
My mind raced, panic rising like a tide.
Kade kept his cool. “Who’s heading the investigation?”
“INTERPOL formed a special task force. Lead investigator is a guy named Richard Dixon.” Oscar’s tone turned cautious. “He’s well–connected. Rumor says he’s tight with a few high- profile packs here in Meridia.”
I went rigid.
Lila Dixon? Richard Dixon? That couldn’t be a coincidence.
“What’s the family doing now?” Kade asked, his voice low.
“Her father Gordon’s holding down the fort at HQ, but he’s getting up there in years,” Oscar said, frowning. “Though I did hear Desmond Hudson is meeting with some investors tonight. At a winery not far from here.”
Kade and I exchanged a look. We were thinking the same thing.
He turned back to Oscar. “Thanks for this. I’ll owe you a drink.”
Oscar leaned back with a cocky half–smile. Let me guess–you’re gonna run off and track down Desmond without me.”
Taint smule “You said it yourself – the Hudsons are a mess right now. I don’t want pull you into this. You’re the Creekshade heir. Your position is… complicated.”
Oscar smacked the table lightly, making a few nearby customers glance
