Nira’s POV:

Edmund accepted the small satchels I passed to him. He brought one to his nose, inhaling sharply, and looked at me in bewilderment. “What is this…?”

“The white powder creates a barrier against the quicksand,” I explained, pointing to each pouchrin turn. “It neutralizes the toxins in the sand so you won’t sink. The green one is a cooling agent. It helps prevent heatstroke when the femperature spikes by 140 degrees.”

I paused on the final pouch. “The red one is the most valuable. It’s an ancient formula called a ‘Mind–Settling Pill. If the magnetic fields scramble your thoughts or sever your connection to your wolf, just slide one under your tongue. It’s keep your mind sharp”

A flicker of astonishment crossed Gordon’s clouded eyes. “Ms. Soren, did you compound all of these yourself?”

“Yes, I stumbled across the formula in an old text,” I replied casually.

In truth, gathering the rare ingredients had nearly cost me my life back then. If Lyra hadn’t been there to protect me, I wouldn’t have survived the process. These satchels were incredibly precious, resources I wouldn’t have surrendered for just anyone.

“Let’s head to the airport.” Kade’s deep voice grounded me in the present.

He wrapped a protective arm around my shoulders and gave a curt nod to the Hudsons. “I hope Ms. Hudson returns safely”

As Edmund watched Nira and Kade walk away, he turned to his father. “Dad, you’ve witnessed Nira’s abilities firsthand. If we could convince her to join us for the Dark Desert operation…”

Gordon looked up, his gaze sharpening instantly. “You want to ask Nira to accompany you?”

“Yes.” Edmund sat across from his father, leaning in. “The environment there is unique; standard military medics wouldn’t stand chance. But Nira understands ancient medicinal practices. With her on the team, we could traverse the dunes much faster and bring Natalie home.”

Gordon mulled it over for a moment before slowly shaking his head. “It’s not a good idea.”

“Why not? We could offer her a massive reward-”

“Do you really believe Mr. Howell would agree?” Gordon cut him off, tapping a finger rhythmically against the table. “That man’s surname is Howell, and he carries an air of command. I recognized him the moment I saw him he is Kade Howell, the sole heir to the Alpha King.”

He held his son’s gaze. “He values Nira too highly. She is undoubtedly his future Luna. Do you honestly think she needs your money?”

Edmund frowned, his frustration mounting. “But Natalie’s life is in danger-

That is exactly why we cannot act rashly,” Gordon countered, rising to his feet and walking to the window. “Edmund, never forget this–the Hudson family left our original pack and established ourselves in the Creekshade Pack not by forcing others hands, but by knowing when to step forward and when to step–back.”

He turned back to his son, his expression grave. “If we try to force Nira to stay today, the Howell Group will retaliate tomorrow. They could cripple our business operations here overnight. And besides-”

Gordon’s eyes held a deeper, knowing look. “Do you think Mark shows Kade such respect without a reason? That young man has hidden depths.”

Realization dawned on Edmund. “I didn’t look at the big picture.”

Nira’s POV:

As the car sped toward the airport, I watched the landscape blur past the window. My fingers unconsciously toyed with the bracelet on my wrist, my emotions in turmoil.

The truth was, I desperately wanted to meet Natalie and her husband in person. I needed to know for myself if they were truly my biological parents….

Kade studied me in silence for a long while. Finally, he spoke to the driver, his tone leaving no room for argument. “Sir, please turn the car around. We’re going back.”

I snapped out of my daze. “What’s wrong?”

Kade took my hand, his voice low but resolute. “We’re going back. We’ll go to the Dark Desert together and find Natalie.”

Hearing him speak so firmly, my heart swelled with emotion, and tears spilled onto my cheeks.

He truly understood me!

“But we promised to return for Tessa’s engagement party-”

“We can attend their wedding instead,” Kade said gently, using his thumb to wipe away the tears from the corner of my eye.

“You want to go, don’t you?” he murmured. “Even though Gordon insists you aren’t Natalie’s daughter, you still can’t bring yourself to let go of her.”

I nodded, my voice thick with unshed grief. “I just want to… see her…”

When the car pulled up to Hudson Manor gates for the second time, Edmund stared at us with wide eyes, rendered speechless for a long moment.

When he finally recovered, he rushed over in three long strides, looking ecstatic. “Ms. Soren? Mr. Howell? Why have you returned

“We’ve decided to accompany you to the Dark Desert,” I said calmly. “However, my supplies are limited. I need three days to prepare.”

I pulled out a notepad and pen, quickly scribbling down a list. “I need these specific herbs. Highest grade, and in bulk.
