Damon sat on the couch, his expression darkening, then suddenly threw the glass in his hand onto the floor. It shattered with a sharp crack, breaking the silence of the living room.

His gaze snapped to me, wolf eyes blazing with anger. “Nira, what is that attitude? Do you have any respect left for me as your father?”

Father?

I let out a cold scoff and rolled my eyes, already losing patience. “If you’ve got something to say, say it. You’re wasting my time.”

“You-” Damon’s claws flashed out in an instant, his wolf side surging forward, but I didn’t move an inch and simply looked at him like it didn’t matter.

After a brief, tense silence, he forced himself to rein it in and pulled his claws back. “Fine. Then answer me this. Were you at Eastspire Hall last night, hanging around the bar with a bunch of questionable people?”

“No,” I said without hesitation.

“You’re still denying it? Janice saw you.”

Jenna stood

up immediately, pointing at me as if that settled everything.

I cast a casual glance at Janice, and int that moment, everything became clear.

So it was her. She was the one who locked the balcony door.

My fingers curled slightly, claws pressing into my palm before I relaxed them again. I looked straight at her and let out a faint, mocking laugh. “You saw me? Where exactly did you see me?”

“… …” Janice froze halfway through her sentence.

If she claimed she saw me inside the bar, that would mean she’d been there too.

She hesitated for a long moment before finally forcing out, “I saw you outside Eastspire Hall.”

let out a quiet, amused laugh. “Eastspire Hall is huge. Since when does being outside automatically mean I went into the bar?”

I crossed my arms and looked at her steadily. “I was with Tessa and Derrick. So what are you implying? That people from the Duvall and Carter families are somehow ‘not decent‘?”

The Duvalls and Carters were old–blood families with deep roots in the pack alliance, their status even higher than the Sorens of Blazeborn Pack. They might not rival the Howells, but they were far beyond what a Soren branch family could afford to offend.

“What? The Duvalls and Carters?” Damon’s expression shifted immediately.

Janice’s face stiffened, and she shot me a quick glare.

I didn’t let up. I looked straight at her and repeated slowly, “Tessa and Derrick were with me. Don’t tell me you didn’t see them. Or are you saying they’re the ‘wrong crowd‘?”

Damon turned sharply toward Janice. “Is that true?”
