Fury Unleashed: The Awakening Alpha Nira (by Chloe Ramos) novel Chapter 361

Chapter 361 Attack in the Lab

Nira’s POV

The poisoner had obviously planned this well in advance-Chances were, they were still watching the embassy right now.

“Minister” I said, keeping my tone firm. “I recommend we increase security around the embassy immediately, especially arrunt Quentin. Whoever did this might try again”

The minister’s expression turned grim. “We’ve already arranged the tightest security possible. We even brought in the top tier guard unit from the Alpha King’s personal detail.

“There’s one more thing,” he added, and both Kade and I focused on him.

“In three days, the ambassador has a major press conference he must attend, if he doesn’t show, rumors will spread that something’s happened to him.” The minister rubbed his temples, looking completely stressed.

“Three days?” My stomach tightened. My fingers absently brushed against the vial holding the blood sample. “With Quentin’s condition right now, a full recovery in three days is practically impossible.”

The minister paled. “Isn’t there anything else we can do? This press conference is critical for the ceasefire agreement. If Quentin can’t make it…”

I lifted the vial toward the light. Inside, the blood had a sickly, unnatural shade of dark purple.

“I’ll do everything I can, but this toxin…” I shook my head. “I need more time to figure out what we’re dealing with.”

A heavy silence settled over the room.

The lab lights felt too bright for the middle of the night.

Rubbing my tired eyes, I added another drop of reagent to the blood sample. This was already the seventh antidote formula I’d tried, but under the microscope, the toxin’s structure remained solid, completely unchanged.

One more try.

I adjusted the microscope’s focus again.

Outside, the embassy patrol had just passed by, their footsteps fading down the hall.

A soft knock came at the door.

“Come in,” I said without looking up, assuming it was Kade with an update on Quentin.

The door opened, and a young man in an embassy uniform stepped inside, carrying a tray.

“Ms. Soren, the minister asked me to bring this to you.”

My fingers stilled.

The voice was familiar, but something about his tone felt off-too rigid, too careful.

I looked up slowly and recognized the face. It was the same assistant who’d been helping in the medical wing earlier.

Something’s wrong with him.

“Just set it over there, thanks.” Ikept my voice casual while letting my gaze sweep over his hands under the tray, his thumb and forefinger showed a faint yellowish stain, the kind that comes from handling certain chemicals regularly. An embassy clerk wouldn’t have marks like that.

He placed the tray on the table but didn’t leave.

“Was there something else?” I pretended to organize my notes, already bracing myself.

“The minister wanted me to tell you-
