Nira’s POV:

“What is it?” Kade took my trembling hands in his and spoke softly, “Slow down, just tell me everything”

Hooked at him, my voice filled with excitement. “I remember now when I was a kid, I sneaked into my foster father’s study once. There was this book… it talked about a branch of mixed-blood Lycans who specialized in an emotion manipulation spell”

Kade’s brow furrowed slightly. He pulled the car over to the shoulder and turned to face me. “A spell? Not some kind of drug or chemical trigger?”

“No, it’s different,” I insisted, shaking my head. “According to the book, that Lycan line came from ancient unions between pure- blood werewolves and witches. They inherited the witches’ gift for magic… specifically, a spell that could redirect someone’s

I paused, trying to keep my voice steady. “The person under the spell would keep all their memories intact, but their feelings would be completely twisted.”

Kade was quiet for a long moment, then met my eyes. “Did it say how to break it?”

“I don’t know.” I rubbed my forehead, frustration creeping into my voice. “That study was always off-limits. My foster father caught me before I could finish reading and made me leave.”

“Then we’ll have to ask him directly,” Kade said, his tone thoughtful. “But until we’re sure, let’s not get Ms. Hudson’s hopes up. If this turns out to be nothing…”

“I understand.” I nodded, a heavy feeling settling in my chest. “But we need to move fast. If this really is an affection-transfer spell, every day that passes makes Killian’s feelings for her more distorted.”

Third-Person POV:

Meanwhile, inside a luxury hotel suite downtown.

Dina had just closed the door when her phone began vibrating relentlessly.

The screen flashed “Unknown Caller”. Her fingers trembled as she swiped to answer.

“Hello?” she managed, but a cold, unnatural voice cut her off.

“You’re failing. Why is Killian still in Meridia with the Creekshade Pack?”

Dina felt a cold sweat break out across her back. “Sir, it’s more complicated than we thought… Natalie refuses to sever the mate bond immediately-”

“Excuses!” The voice sharpened. “Do you realize how much the organization has invested in you? We gave you time, and you still

can’t control one man?”

“I’ve fully taken over his consciousness,” Dina insisted quickly, “but the Hudson family’s influence runs deeper than expected. Natalie’s standing in Meridia is stronger than our intel suggested-”

– don’t care about the details,” the voice snapped. “You have ten days. Bring Killian back with you, or don’t bother returning at all”

The line went dead.

Dina stood frozen for a long moment before stumbling toward the reinibar. With shaky hands, she grabbed a bottle of whiskey and took several burning swallows. The alcohol did little to steady her nerves.

“That old fox,” she muttered under her breath. In a sudden burst of anger, her wolf claws slid out, scoring deep marks across the glass tabletop.

Just then, the bathroom door opened. Killian stepped out, drying his hair with a towel.”Who were you talking to?”

Dina instantly smoothed her expression into a sweet smile. “Just a work call. Everything’s handled.”

She moved closer to him, placing a hand on his arm. “Killian, has Natalie agreed to break the bond yet?”

He paused, towel in hand. “After everything I said to her tonight, she won’t hold on much longer.”

“Then let’s go see her tomorrow,” Dina pressed, urgency leaking into her tone. “We can finalize the papers and put this behind us.”
