He drew a slow breath, his eyes earnest and intense. “It’s only been a month, I know… but I’m already sure. You’re the one I want to spend my life with. You’re my fated mate–chosen by the Moon Goddess. I don’t know how I got this lucky, but I’m going to love you for the rest of my life.”

As his words faded into the night, fireworks burst over the distant shoreline, painting their faces in flashes of gold and silver.

Tears finally spilled down Natalie’s cheeks. She rose onto her toes, wrapped her arms around his neck, and whispered against his ear, “Killian… I feel the same way.”

I couldn’t hold back my own tears as I watched them.

Kade’held me close beside the water, his silence stretching until he finally looked down, eyes burning into mine.

Feeling his shift in mood, I gave his hand a gentle squeeze. “What’s on your mind?”

He tightened his grip. “I’ve never really given you a proper surprise, have I? I’m not the best mate.”

Then he pulled me into his arms and kissed me–hard and hungry, full of everything he’d been holding back. It was fierce enough to steal my breath.

Inside me, Lyra snarled and thrashed, reacting to his dominant scent as always.

Kade pressed me against the dock railing. Fighting to keep Lyra under control, I wrapped my arms around his neck and kissed him back with everything I had.

“Baby…” He broke away breathlessly, forehead resting against mine, voice rough. “Once this is all over. lps go home. As soon as I’m officially crowned Alpha King, I’m making you my Luna. No one’s going to stop me.”

His thumb brushed over my swollen lips, eyes dark with want.
