Nira’s POV:

I was in the middle of coordinating work with Silvermoon Pack when Lyra suddenly went still inside me, her awareness snapping into focus without warning.
That instinct alone was enough to make me pause. I drew in a quiet breath, letting my senses stretch outward, and almost immediately caught the familiar scent lingering just beyond the door.
Jenna.
Right on cue, a knock followed.
I pulled the door open and looked at her with a faint frown. “What do you need?”
She gave me a quick once–over, her tone as imperious as ever. “You’re coming with me.”
I didn’t move. “Where?”
For a split second, something flickered across her face, then her entire demeanor shifted. A smile appeared, forced but carefully arranged, though her eyes betrayed a trace of unease. “Nira, here’s the situation. The Soren main family is willing to step in and help us get Nolan out. I’m meeting Evelyn today, so come with me. We’ll sit down and figure out what to do next.”
I stayed where I was, arms folding loosely across my chest
“I’ll pass.”
The warmth vanished instantly. Her expression hardened, and when she spoke again, her voice carried a sharp edge. “You refused to go to Kade, and no one forced you. Fine. But now I’m asking you to come meet the people who actually run the Soren family, and you’re still acting like this?”
She let out a quiet scoff, her gazeing cutting. “Do you even understand who they are? The main bloodline holds inherited
titles, real influence, and the kind of wealth that’s been built over generations.”

barely registers in comparison. And right now, with everything falling
Her lips curled slightly
“Your father runs a
apart, he can’t even be sure he’ll keep his position as alpha.”
I narrowed my eyes, studying her without answering. She was pushing too hard. This wasn’t just about help.
The urgency didn’t feel natural. If anything, it felt staged.
Fine. If this was a setup, I would walk straight into it and see what she was really after.
After a brief pause, I gave a small nod. “Alright. Let’s go.”
Her mood flipped instantly, the hostility disappearing as if it had never existed. She smiled again and led the way out.
The drive took us well beyond Blazeborn Pack before the car finally slowed and came to a stop.
When I stepped out, my gaze lifted to the sign above the entrance.
Starglobe Hotel.
I turned to Jenna, a hint of skepticism in my voice. “I thought we were meeting someone from the main family. Why here?”

She sounded impatient now. “That’s where they chose to meet. We’re the ones asking for help. We don’t get to make demands.”
I held her gaze for a moment longer, then said nothing and followed her inside.
The moment I crossed into the lobby, Lyra reacted again, her presence sharpening into a quiet, controlled alertness.
Something wasn’t right.
Jenna led me into a private room where a woman was already seated. She was elegant, composed, and carried herself with the kind of ease that only came from long–standing authority. The scent alone confirmed it, pure–blood, high–ranking, unmistakably powerful.
Jenna’s expression changed immediately, her voice softening into something almost deferential. “Evelyn, sorry to keep you waiting. This is my daughter, Nira.”
Recognition settled in instantly.
Evelyn Soren.
I had, seen her profile before, along with photos. She came from a dominant southern pack, born into a line of ruling alphas, and now stood at the center of the Soren family’s core power.
No wonder Jenna was acting the way she was.
Evelyn looked me over, her gaze calm and measured. There was no trace of disdain in her expression, none of the contempt I had grown used to.
Instead, she smiled lightly. “We’re family. There’s no need for formality. Sit.”
Jenna guided me into a seat beside her. I didn’t resist, though my attention remained fixed on both of them.
So this really was about Nolan?
They began discussing possible options, weighing connections and considering who might be able to help. Their conversation flowed smoothly, almost too smoothly, as if rehearsed.
I listened without interrupting, occasionally reaching for the food in front of me. I hadn’t eaten yet, and hunger made itself known in the background.
Then the door opened.
An Omega server stepped in, carrying a bottle. “Mrs. Soren, your drink.”
Evelyn nodded with a polite smile. “Thank you.”
The bottle was opened in front of us, and the server poured three glasses before quietly leaving the room.
Evelyn lifted hers slightly. “This is one of their signature blends. It’s said to enhance physical endurance and stimulate a wolf’s energy. You should try it.”
She took a sip first.
Jenna followed. Their attention shifted to me. I picked up my glass and brought it to my lips, taking a small, measured sip.

The moment the liquid touched my tongue, something registered instantly.
A faint bitterness, subtle but unmistakable.
Out of place. There it was.
I set the glass down without reacting.
