Damon’s brows pulled together, irritation flashing across his face. “Who could possibly have you this shaken?”
Reese hurried to explain, his words tumbling over each other. “Alpha, it’s Graham Reed, the vice principal of Howard Academy.”
Damon shot to his feet, shock written all over him. “Howard Academy’s vice principal?”
I understood exactly why that name hit so hard.
Graham wasn’t just part of the administration. He was the man behind the Reed family, one of the four most powerful families in the entire pack alliance, someone whose influence carried real weight across the region.
Compared to him, Damon’s position as the alpha of a minor pack barely registered.
Damon recovered quickly, though a flicker of unease lingered beneath his excitement. “Bring him in. No, I’ll go greet him myself.”
He straightened his jacket in a hurry, trying to compose himself before stepping out.
When Graham was finally ushered inside, his presence filled the room without effort. His suit was impeccably tailored, his demeanor calm and controlled, every movement carrying the quiet authority of someone used to being listened to.
A middle–aged man in gray stood beside him.
Jenna immediately stepped forward with a warm, polished smile, personally setting down coffee. “Mr. Reed, what an honor. We weren’t expecting you. Please, have a seat.”
Once everyone was settled, the man in gray spoke first.
“Mr. Soren, we’re here to take someone with us.”
Damon blinked, clearly caught off guard. “Take someone? Who are you referring to?”
Graham glanced at the man beside him. “This is Professor Alden Morgan from our Computer Science department.”
“Professor Morgan,” Damon said politely, though the confusion on his face didn’t fade. “May I

ask who you’re here for?”

“Your daughter,” Alden replied without hesitation, his tone already edged with frustration. “I have to ask, what exactly is going on in this household? Your daughter scored a perfect score, the highest we’ve seen in years, and instead of sending her back to school, you’ve kept her at home?”
Damon froze for a beat, then his expression flipped into pure excitement. “My daughter got a perfect score? The highest in years?”
At that moment, Janice walked in, looking puzzled by the scene in front of her.
Jenna immediately grabbed her hand, her smile widening as she turned toward Graham. “There must be some misunderstanding. Why would we ever keep her from school? We’re thrilled, truly thrilled.”
“Exactly,” Damon added quickly, pride already creeping into his voice, as if he could see the Soren family’s future rising before his eyes.
Graham and Alden exchanged a brief, puzzled look.
After a short pause, Alden stood. “In that case, have your daughter come back with us.”
Jenna pulled Janice to her feet and gently pushed her forward. “Janice, go on. Head back with Mr. Reed and Professor Morgan, and focus on your studies. Don’t keep running home like this.”
Janice’s face lit up with satisfaction, though she tried to hide it behind a composed expression. She smoothed her clothes before answering, “I understand, Mom. Don’t worry.”
Then she glanced sideways at me, her eyes brimming with smug triumph.
I folded my arms, a faint, cold smile tugging at my lips as I waited.
Alden’s attention shifted, and without the slightest hesitation, he walked straight past Janice and stopped in front of me. His urgency hadn’t faded, but there was clear relief in his expression as he reached out and gave my shoulder a firm pat.
“Nira, what are you waiting for? Let’s go. You’re coming back to school with us.”
