Chapter 65 A Different Game

Nira’s POV:

Kade nodded toward an open lane off to the side and said, Let’s move over there.”

Okay.I replied,

We walked off together without another word, leaving Janice and the others behind us.

What the hell? That’s not possible!Elise blurted out, her voice rising before she could stop it. Since when does Kade even care about stuff like this? And now he’s actually going to teach her?

Janice didn’t say anything, but the look on her face was worse than words. The jealousy was written all over her, sharp and ugly, like she wanted to lunge forward and tear me apart right then and there.

Aven stood there frowning, staring at our backs as we walked away. He stayed quiet, but it was obvious he hadn’t processed it yet. Kade had always been distant, cold, someone who never wasted time on anyone, and yet just now, his attitude toward me had been unexpectedly patient, almostconsiderate.

Nira’s POV:

I didn’t bother looking back. Their reactions didn’t matter.

I followed Kade to the lane, and he picked up a bowling ball, turning slightly toward me as he demonstrated the grip. Place your fingers like this,he said, his tone calm and precise. It gives you better control over both direction and power.”

He handed me the ball, and I adjusted my grip to match what he showed me.

Before I could take my stance, he stepped in behind me. I felt him lean in slightly as his hands settled on my shoulders, guiding me into position.

Lean forward a little,he said near my ear, his voice low and steady. Bend your knees and keep your balance. That way your release will feel smoother.

I tilted my head just enough to catch the sharp line of his jaw from the corner of my eye, the clean, defined angle giving him that unmistakable edge. His scent lingered around me, strong and distinct, and for a moment my heartbeat slipped.

Even Lyra stirred restlessly.

Stay steady,he added softly. Focus on the motion.

I could see the subtle movement of his lips as he spoke, every small detail distracting in a way I didn’t expect.

Then he turned slightly, and our eyes met.

You want to try?he asked.

My breath caught for a split second before I forced myself to steady it. I looked away, keeping my tone even. Yeah.

He stepped aside, giving me space.

I took position, adjusted my stance the way he had shown me, and released the ball.

It rolled down the lane unevenly, wobbling before slowing to a stop just short of the pins. Not a single one fell.

Elise let out a sharp laugh. Seriously? I thought you might actually be good. Guess I was

wrong.

Janice shot me a look, the mockery in her eyes obvious.

I didn’t respond. I just picked up another ball and kept practicing.

Even though none of my attempts worked, I stayed focused, adjusting each time, figuring out where I went wrong.

Eventually, Elise called out impatiently, Nira, half an hour’s up.

I stopped and walked back over calmly. Alright. Let’s start.

Tessa tugged lightly at my sleeve, lowering her voice. Are you sure you’re good? I can take your place if you want.

I gave her shoulder a light pat. It’s fine. It’s just a game.
