Chapter 87 Something Familiar
Chapter 87 Something Familiar
Nira’s POV:
I’d been on edge the whole time, but Kade finally looked away like nothing had happened.
That was when I let out a quiet breath.

Honestly, I wasn’t too worried. Lyra’s illusion had always been flawless. Even an Alpha King wouldn’t be able to see through it.
Halfway through wrapping my arm, the hospital director got called away. Before he left, he made a point of telling me to stay put until he got back.
The nurse kept working while going over aftercare instructions, her tone soft but serious. “Keep it dry, change the dressing on time. Since you don’t have a wolf spirit, your healing’s going to be slower than most Omegas, and infections are a bigger risk. So if anything feels off, don’t wait. Come straight back, okay?”
“Got it. Thanks.” I gave her a small nod and got up to leave.
The moment I stepped out, Briar rushed over like he’d been waiting.
“Seriously, thank you for what you did today,” he said, almost breathless. “If you hadn’t stepped in, this could’ve turned into a full- blown disaster. You didn’t just help me. You helped the whole hospital.”
He actually started to bow.
I quickly reached out to stop him. “Hey, don’t. You’re making it sound way bigger than it was. Anyone would’ve done the same.”
Briar shook his head immediately. “No, that’s not true. You saved two lives. That’s not something you just brush off.”
He paused, then asked, “I didn’t catch your name.”
“Mandy Lane.”
“Miss Lane,” he said, straightening up before bowing again anyway. “Thank you. Really.”
I wasn’t great with this kind of thing, so I just nodded and let him talk.
But standing right next to him, Kade was looking at me again.
That look made my skin crawl.
He studied me for a second before speaking, his voice calm but deliberate. “Miss Lane, you’ve got impressive skills. The way you handled that… it reminds me of someone I know.”
Of course he was suspicious.
Still, there was no way he could actually see through me.
I gave a small, easy smile. “Guess talented people tend to overlap a little.”
Kade let out a quiet laugh, but there was something unreadable behind it. “Maybe”

“If that’s everything, I’ll head out.” I didn’t wait for a response before turning and leaving
I had just gotten back to campus when Tessa showed up out of nowhere.
She leaned in close like she was about to spill something huge. “You hear about Elise?”
I already knew exactly what this was about, but I played along. “No. What happened?”
“She got sent overseas,” Tessa whispered, eyes lighting up. “Like, immediately.”
I raised an eyebrow. “That sudden? Why?”

“They re saying it’s for training. Creekshade Pack, over in Eastria. Something about combat training.” She rolled her eyes. “But come on. That’s just the cover story. Her family wanted her gone.”
She leaned even closer. “I heard even her grandfather lost it this time, and he’s the one who always spoils her.”
